Was it worth the money and how aggressive is it?

For a road car that also sees track, it’s a perfect fit and forget solution. No additional NVH or clonking or routine maintenance. For an all out race car a Gripper is probably preferred as it’s a plate type diff that can be preloaded to your requirements. But they do require routine maintenance and clonk about at low speed.

I’d say adding the Quaife was one of the best things you can do to a Clio. It can be felt and is beneficial at all speeds. Even just pulling out of wet junctions or roundabouts is much safer. Wheel control at the limit is now totally predictable and you can get on the gas so much sooner. I’m so used to my diff now, I forget it’s there. But without question, one of the best purchases I’ve made for the car.

Had them in plenty of cars but never went aftermarket and was wanting to hear that it wasn't noisy or pulling everywhere. It sounds like what I'm after

That’s what I did.

Belts, water pump, front & rear main seals as well as having the sump off to be checked and re sealed. New clutch, rebuilt box and diff all at the same time. May aswell take advantage of getting as much done as possible.

A Quaife LSD in the Trophy is awesome! Highly recommended. I have a refurbished gearbox complete with Quaife LSD (never used)... :ROFLMAO:

EDIT: The Quaife has never been used, the gearbox obvs is refurbed!

Why has it not been used?
A long story mate! It was due to go in my latest build but after being screwed over by a specialist (again) the build ended and it is just sat waiting to be sold. Along with about 15 grands worth of other high-end components. :(

Can you not just fit the box anyway?
Surely that will still complement the standard car?

When the build fell through I was going to sell the Trophy and somebody wanted the gearbox and diff. I bought another standard gearbox and put that in the Trophy so the buyer could have my newly rebuilt and newly LSD'd gearbox. He backed out. I just cannot be bothered to swap them around again as the car already owes me almost half the cost of my GT4! Nobody wanted the custom-built engine either (too expensive) so that has been taken apart. :( Just sick of the whole thing really, hence the reason to return it to standard. (Sorry, hijacking your thread!)

It’s okay mate, I too have experienced your road traveled and it’s an incredibly tough one. Both financially and emotionally, as you know, it’s the reason I broke the Impreza. That could have paid for a new GT3!!

I just think for something like a gearbox of which is a known quantity, I’d be fitting it and enjoying it.
Certainly keeping it for a rainy day or if your ever developed a fault and needed to be dropped out.

When I fitted my diff, I done exactly that, bought another box that was freshly rebuilt with a new Quaife in it.
My original box is still perfectly useable and wrapped up in the corner of the garage for a rainy day.

A proper diff makes such an enjoyable difference to even a standard car and can be enjoyed at all speeds.
Food for thought maybe?

Yeah - I hear you mate. It does make sense as the LSD just works so well on these cars. I'm just fed up of the whole saga though really. I'd rather sell it and put the money towards my GT4 upkeep, or even towards the costs of actually putting my Trophy back to standard. Or I might even put the money towards a new car as we have decided to sell our modified Abarth 595.

The LSD certainly suits the Trophy and the roads that are local to me wouldn't see the LSD wasted. But despite how good the Trophy is... I'm mostly going to take the GT4 given the choice. A standard Trophy (with fresh bushes, suspension, etc.) is still a pretty capable thing and I'll happily take that. :)

If you ever want to sell the diff let me know.
It is for sale mate. I just haven't bothered posting it up as I got fed up of time wasters and people offering unrealistic amounts! The only problem is that it is currently with my mechanic in the East Midlands. And I'm based in south Wales.
