In two minds really but let's see what happens...
Renaultsport Clio 182 TROPHY No.49/500
I have come to the decision that after two and a half years it is time to sell my pride and joy and move up a step to a megane RS 250.
I have owned the car for two and half years now and it has been completely faultless within my ownership. I can honestly every day has been a pleasure driving the car and always brought a huge smile to my face when out on a spirited drive.
I bought the car in December 2010 from Andrew - 'sonofsolo' on here on just 24,000 miles. I have since taken the car to just 44,000 miles. The car has two previous owners.
I have complete service history which is all neatly documented in a folder with every receipt. Every service has been carried out at Renault, with the last service being carried out at Birchdown in Northwich who are a reputable Renaultsport specialist, who without a shadow of a doubt knows the Renaultsport range miles better than a basic car mechanic at Renault.
Service history.
30/05/2006 – Renault Benfield – 10,378 miles
02/06/2007 – Renault Benfield – 15,249 miles
14/06/2008 – Renault Benfield – 19,204 miles
26/06/2009 – Renault Benfield – 22,499 miles
18/02/2010 – Renault Manchester – cambelt and water pump change – 24,558 miles.
29/07/2010 – Renault Manchester – 28,556 miles
03/08/2011 –Birchdown – 37,969 miles – new ITG panel filter and pollen filter.
As I’m sure you are aware, if you are interested in a Clio trophy, what makes them extra special is the Sachs racing dampers. They are motorsport dampers and need to be well look after. A common selling point is whether the dampers have been refurbished which mine were done by the previous owner at 22,799 miles. These were done at the only place known to trophy owners who do it – BG Motorsport down at the Silverstone circuit.
I then bought the car on 24,000 so I had them at the optimum potential. However at 29,147 I noticed that the dampers were slightly leaking oil on the passenger side so I immediately took them back to BG Motorsport who took the damper apart and the outcome was that it was their error and they had not properly seated a rubber seal which allowed the oil to escape. The left hand strut was the fully re-furbished and the right one was checked for any leaks or loss of the gas which none was found.
Any other minor bits of work have been carried out at a local garage that I know and trust,
I have had both side ball joints replaced due to them knocking,
Passenger side done 09/06/2010
Driver’s side done 17/06/2010
Front brake upgrade – Brembo high carbon discs and ferodo DS2500 bought from Northwest performance at a cost of £184 and fitted by my local garage.
Rear brakes (both discs and pads) replaced with standard parts at around 40,000 miles.
After then reading through my service book and history one day I realised that the car had never had new spark plugs on any service or new brake fluid. So I bought the parts myself online and my friend who is a mechanic at ford replaced these for me free of charge so no receipt for them but they have been done. This was around 42,000 miles.
I have Michelin PS3 tyres all round. The two on the front have covered around 2,000 miles and the two on the rear I only put on 05/05/2011 so have done maybe 60 miles maximum.
I cannot explain in words just how much my car is looked after. Mechanically it has not wanted for anything as soon as it is needed or looks like it may need something it has been replaced. Visually the car is super super clean. I wash the car without fail once a week and genuinely once a week!!!! I am massively into auto detailing and have machine polished my car several times to a very high glossy standard. I take the wheels off and clean the arches (OCD I know i have been told!!). The wheels are off and regularly glazed and protected with several coats of wax. There is not one kerb mark on any of the wheels and they are still the original, I think this is testament to the previous owners and myself. I think the pictures shall do enough talking. Interior wise it is also spot on, there is only ever really me in the car and the passenger seat is rarely used.
For me the only downside is the obvious stone chips on the bonnet which unfortunately can’t be helped and a minor scratch on the back bumper.
So, 44,000 miles, full Renault/specialist service history, dampers serviced, 6 months tax, 6 months MOT, brand new tyres and a super super clean car £6,800.
I’m positive there will be many things I have missed but any questions do not hesitate to ask me and any photos required, again just ask.
PS - private plate will be taken off the car.
Elliott.
