Not really using the Trophy at the moment (twice in 6 weeks), so if someone else wants it as is, they can have it, if not, I will strip everything of worth from it at some point over the next few months and keep the shell and running gear in the barn.
This is my 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Clio Trophy. Having originally sold my low mileage example in August 2010 to purchase a more sensible commuting car, I missed the little tyrant so much that I bought this one in September 2010, purely as something to tinker with & love at the weekends, oh & to do the odd trackday in.
In the 2 years that I have owned the car, I have spent rather a lot of time, money & care in making it a perfectly reliable, well setup trackday/fast road car, capable of spending all day lapping around, putting a massive grin on my face. The service history, as can be seen below, is complete, & the car wants for nothing, literally having a no expenses spared maintenance schedule from day one:
9.9.05 - Ordered on for £14,235 inc. tax, delivery, etc.
15.10.05 - RF55 RTU is born with delivery miles
6.1.06 - Minor service (Renault) - 12,460 miles
9.3.06 - Minor service (Renault) - 24,320 miles
5.5.06 - Major service (Renault) - 35,686 miles (headlamp replaced, aux belt, etc)
24.7.06 - Minor service (Renault) - 47,854 miles
26.9.06 - Minor service (Renault) - 60,094 miles (replaced splitter)
11.12.06 - Major service (Renault) - 71,846 miles (front brake pads, cambelt, aux belt, etc)
12.4.07 - Minor service (Renault) - 84,045 miles
5.7.07 - Minor service (Renault) - 96,350 miles (rear discs/pads)
2.12.07 - Minor service (Renault) - 108,484 miles (exhaust mounts)
30.6.08 - Minor service (Renault) - 127,787 miles
7.10.08 - Major service (Renault) - 137,861 miles (lower susp. arms, front discs/pads, aux belt, etc)
4.2.09 - Minor service (Renault) - 148,204 miles (Trophy rear shocks, rear discs/pads)
10.12.09 - Minor service (Self Service) - 167,331 miles (lambda, front Sachs dampers refurbed)
30.11.10 – Oil Change (Self Service) – 173,431 miles – engine oil & filter, pollen filter
11.4.11 – Major service/overhaul (JMS Automotive-RenaultSport Specialist) 175,348 miles – Cambelt, aux belt, de-phaser pulley, PMS aircon delete kit, new PAS pump, new alternator, coolant change & new thermostat, NGK PFR6E10 spark plugs, Pipercross air filter, gearbox oil change, fitment of braided brake lines/Castrol fluid, & JMS remap. This little lot cost well in excess of £1500 …
15.9.11 – Oil Change (Self Service) – 176,889 miles – engine oil & filter, replaced splitter
25.5.12 – Upgrades (Self Service) - 185,237 miles – ball joints, H&R Coilovers & CL RC5+ front pads
tbc – Service prior to sale - 186,788 miles – engine oil & filter
The car has gone through various different stages over the years, from standard to caged/bucket seated track toy, then back to standard(ish) fast road setup. It is this current format that it is for sale in, with the following specification:
Espace V6 airbox with Pipercross filter
Pure Motorsport aircon delete kit (inc. lightweight alloy pulleys)
JMS 98 Ron remap
RS Inlets
BTB catback exhaust
16" Trophy Turinis with Hankook V12 Evo’s
Carbon Lorraine RC5+ brake pads (standard pads included)
Brembo HC front discs
Goodridge Braided brake lines
Castrol Response Super Dot4 fluid
H&R coilovers (done 1k miles, cost £900) (original Sachs suspension included)
Eibach front camber bolts: set to -1.8 degrees (standard bolts included)
Whiteline rear ARB (early model with 3 settings, not the 2 of the latter models)
2 x Honda Accord Type R Recaro front seats with adjustable lumbar support
182 Alcantara rear bench & doorcards
Alcantara dash strips, a-pillars, handbrake cover (gearstick gator included, but not fitted)
Leather re-trimmed leather steering wheel (with centre band)
Kenwood CD player with aux input
Externally, the car is in pretty good condition with a few stone chips here & there, no major dents or blemishes though & comes up lovely when clean (as can be seen in the photos). Naturally, the car is Hpi clear, with only 2 previous owners & tax until the end of September. The MOT is currently until the end of November, but it can be re MOT’d prior to sale if required.
All the major ClioSport maintenance items (& more) have been completed at great expense in the last 10k miles, i.e. cambelt, auxbelt, de-phaser, PAS pump, alternator & full suspension refresh.
Please don’t let the mileage put you off, the car is in better condition than most other 172/182’s out there (it put out 175bhp at Surrey Rolling Road last September), with a literally ‘no expenses spared’ ethos applied to its maintenance and upkeep. I firmly believe that if a job needs doing, it should be done properly, with only the best parts being fitted as & when required.
The car is only for sale as im simply not using it that much anymore, & I would prefer for someone else to enjoy the fruits of my labour & £££’s, rather than storing it my parents barn for years on end.
In its current specification, with everything listed, I would be looking for £3,795 ono.
If you like the car, but have less of a budget, I might sell the car at a reduced spec, for a lower price, please pm me for details.
