    Looking for a Trophy

Jesus Christ. I’m assuming that’s the dephaser and water pump in all these costs? My dephaser has managed 9 years no problem and the first one managed 10 years no problem (AFAIK) so you can save on that at least in my experience.

    Looking for a Trophy

I’m due mine next year but SWR have never been anywhere close to that for me in 2015 or 2020.

Who is Tucked up for Winter vs running daily?!

Can those of you who have their cars garaged all winter share the prep you do please? All going to plan with selling our house I’ll have a detached double garage at our new place which would finally give the option to do this.

    Looking for a Trophy

Am I the only one who almost choked at ‘£1k for belts’? Where on earth is charging close to that?

    Alternator

Cheers but I ended up going for that Valeo unit and it is correct for anyone else reading this in the future.

    Alternator

I’m currently waiting on a breakdown truck (I’m at home thankfully) with a suspected dodgy alternator. What’s the current consensus on replacement? The Renault part is out of stock with RPD but googling has led me to believe VALEO 439302 is the only one I’d want to go for which autodoc have-...

    Sachs on EBay

All that money and collection only? Not exactly a salesmen there, making an already tiny market even smaller. 🫠

    Arch Liners

I think we're all aware these are now very rare- has anybody tried aftermarket options with any success? Autodoc list a few options- https://www.autodoc.co.uk/spares-search?keyword=Arch%20liner

    Alternatives for the rear sachs

I use 182 cup dampers. Rik Perry mentioned on here a few years ago now that when he compared the cup and trophy rear dampers the difference was negligible.

    SACHS DAMPERS REBUILDS

Regarding lack of use, how's this affecting any thoughts on removing the sachs for winter? I'd planned to do that as while I limit my use in winter, salty roads are ultimately unavoidable up here sooner or later. That being said, the implication here is that if you were to store the car off...

    SACHS DAMPERS REBUILDS

FWIW Cornering Force manufactured a new one of these (I forget the name) for me due to the original being badly corroded.

    top mounts and bearings

No need to get passive aggressive when wires are evidently getting crossed- how is the bearing on the wrong side of the rubber cushion in the photos I posted? The bearing is fitted in the recess in both photos, the only thing different is the orientation of the bearing...

    top mounts and bearings

Not sure where the confusion is coming from here- either we must be talking about different things or all the exploded diagrams, every photo I've ever seen of a strut assembly in 10 years of ownership and that tutorial video hoolio has just posted are wrong...which seems unlikely. Regardless of...

I was meaning the bearing orientation only.

    top mounts and bearings

Thanks, if anyone wants to back that up please go ahead. For what it's worth the bearings definitely want to fit nicely in that way, they're on the tight side the other way.

Can someone just confirm the correct orientation of the thrust bearing please?-

    top mounts and bearings

I don't have a 16mm drill bit or a vice or the ability to assemble the units with springs to check the fitment myself after modifying. It's booked into the garage for Monday to get the dampers fitted so I don't intend to muck about with something that was never a problem, I just wanted fresh...

    top mounts and bearings

Cheers for the response but I should have paid more attention to your comments in post 24 of the thread, what a pain in the ass. I'll just use the original spacer and half nut if this is what's required to make the new spacer/nut work. I don't have the time, inclination or the tools to muck...

Mine have also arrived...anyone fancy having a stab at making sense of this or is it ultimately a shite part as I'm finding out with some cliosport forum threads on the topic? Black ink is where the spacer nut bottoms out on the rod.

    Sachs Damper Protection

Based on an old post on the Clio Trophy Facebook page I saw one guy mentioning Passat rears doing the job. Managed to find the right ones on Ebay, 'Vetech' branded and they seem to do the trick as I've just fitted one over the black cap and cable tied it below it. In less good news, the second...

I've ordered the SNR kit from autodoc so will see how it goes. I've had good experiences with autodoc so far, delivery is never the quickest but it all comes from Germany so understandable.

The autodoc link from your old post 10 has SNR items, are they a known good brand? Don't think I've heard of them myself.

    top mounts and bearings

Thanks for the input, RPD do indeed list the kit here- https://renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/parts/steering-suspension/543a09780r/ However, they list the spacer nut separately at an absolutely farcical price of £22-...

What's the latest on top mounts? Genuine from RPD still a safe bet or are the aftermarket ones superior?

    Sachs Damper Protection

Fuck it! Given up! The gaiter just pops out of shape, what a waste of time. Will stick to removing the dampers before each winter and hope for the best.

    Sachs Damper Protection

Given up on the jubilee clip idea as their size ranges are quite limited from what I can see online and there's a fair discrepancy between the damper diameter (~50mm) and gaiter diameter (~80mm). Going to go with cable ties and hope for the best.

    Sachs Damper Protection

My thoughts also so I've given up on the idea. The new OEM items have arrived from France so I'll see if I can secure the bottom of the gaiterto the shock. One thing I hadn't realised was how tight the bump stops are in these from new, my old ones have always slipped in very easily so I had no...

    Sachs Damper Protection

Have I definitely got the right thing? How on earth does this get over the shock?? I just played about with the gaiter and it has some stretch but not much. Look at the difference in diameters.
