I've got some Bridgestone RE-11's and they've got a HUGE rim protector ridge - a lot more substantial than the PE2's. But, it's still only rubber and won't protect a rim from a hard knock.
I found "Sika Flex Pro" at the local hardware store - it said it was the best for flexibility http://www.sika.com.au/cmc/Datasheets/t ... RO_tds.pdf it wasn't too badly priced at AUS $17 for a catridge(cheap normal silicone starts are around $6.)
I haven't bought any, but it look like a...
Thanks for the tip. I hadn't heard of it before and a quick Google suggests it isn't sold in Australia, but Sikaflex make similar products and are sold locally. I'll look into it.
Yes, that's what I'd like to try. You need something that will still give some isolation between the metal frame of the exhaust mount and the exhaust hanger.
I'm living with it slightly off centre and lower on the RHS for now.
I'm running Bridgestone RE-11's in 205/50R15. Very happy with the dry grip (much better than the 16" PE2's) and when it's rained they also have performed very well. They're also very quiet given their intended market. They are a soft compound however so I'm not expecting them to last a long...
I tried that solution for centering mine, but the extra reverberation inside the cabin wasn't worth it IMHO. In my case I used some 19mm PVC piping (electrical conduit.) I've been trying to find some rubber hosing (radiator type stuff) to give that a go.
The ideal way to fix it is to bend the...
If you've got an RS192 then you won't be able to do it. The centre res appears to go internally from 2" at the inlet to 2.25" (?) at the outlet- so you'd need to replace that.
PS: The stock cat inlet is 2.5" and the outlet is only 2" outside diameter!
I used to own (from new) a 306 S16, compared to my 182 Cup I would say the ride was a lot more "absorbent". I've never been in a Trophy - we never got them here- but with my Cup I've downsized the rim size to 15" with 205/50R15 tyres and that has noticeably improved the ride. There's less in the...
It's a fairly common thing to get them recovered in Australia- needless to say the weather over here kills them if the vehicle is left outside.
Here's an example covered completely in leather:
Here's another with just the thumb grips covered in leather:
Another with before and after pics:
Very nice! Any chance of more pics (of the interior and engine bay)?
Sadly we don't get the RS model over here. I'm sure they'd sell quite a few but Ford Australia are hopeless at marketing the Euro models. :(
I'm running 15" rims with 205/50 tyres on my 182 Cup (Bridgestone RE-11 tyres.) For outright grip they easily beat the previously fitted 205/45R16 Exalto PE2's, the only trade off is slightly slower steering response.
