There are so many products on the market its hard to choose TBH. Most of them are pretty good really.

detailingworld.com has loads of info on what to use and where.

If you are applying by hand autoglym super resin polish came out top in the reviews. Their extra gloss protection works well at protecting the paint after polishing too, lasts at least a month and still beads well after a few months but i'd top up at least every 2 months.

If you are applying by random orbital i've found the sonus SFX1,2 & 3 to be great for varying degrees of defect.

My mate has a makita and he uses an assortment of poorboys, menzerna, 3M and sonus.

I've not started applying wax and sealant by machine yet so can't advise on what to use, but i've got a few boxes of assorted stuff to try!

if you're asking the question on here, don't go on detailing world - that will boggle your mind as leave you wanting £00's of products.

basically, depending on what you want to do or rather the level of clean you want then:

rinse
snow foam
two bucket clean with a good shampoo
rinse
clay
rinse
polish
wax

which clay bar is a question in itself, polishes etc - contact 7mat on here, he owns a specialist company that supplies everything and is a fountain of knowledge from basic stuff to professional products.

i'd say autoglym etc is where i'd start.

As per Cue's point, detailingworld has left me in quite a qaundry over exactly which products to buy. There's no doubt that it's a fountain of knowledge but it's quite baffling for beginners... So far I have purchased some buffing cloths and Dodo Juice Red Mist.. In my head I'm building up a list of stuff like brushes and an All Purpose Cleaner of some sort.. Also plan to try one of the Dodo shampoos.. Have used Auto Glym SRP and AGP on my wheels and have been very pleased with this combination.

How long have you got? :)

Maybe time for a small detailing section.

Anyway you won't go far wrong with the AG stuff to start off with.

what a bargain PR!

I signed up for one of the £1 for a couple of months Auto Express + free AG kit - that was worthwhile (especially when I cancelled because that magazine is a waste of money!) :D

How much do you want to spend??

£30 at halfords on autoglym etc will get a nice shiney car with a bit protection but you have to redo every other week
£100 on dodo will get a more shiney more protection and need redoing every 6 weeks
£250 on Zymol will get even more shine, loads of protection and only need doing every 3-6 months. Depending on mileage and if its in a garage.

If there is one product that I think is a must its ValetPro Billberry Safe wheel cleaner. 1 litre for 8.50 and if you wax and seal the wheels you can use it diluted upto 1:10.

Best way to clean the wheels is to have 1 big go at them with neat or 1:1 bilberry, then clay them, the wax and seal.

After that your wheels will be mint and you be able to use billberry diluted between 1:5 and 1:10 and just pressure washer off.

Also if you go for a high carnuba wax they will never bubble etc.

NEDeatiling use Zymol Titanium on wheels and its £68 a tub but it is mainly for body and a tub should last 3 years plus so IMO good value.

I've started using Chemical Guys products, in the past I've used Meg's and AG. The Chemical Guys products are simply amazing, to use, the smell and the end result, is just incredible on all of the products I have. Plus when you wash the car, the dirt simply falls off, I've honestly never seen better!

I buy from here http://www.carwashnwax.com/ perhaps worth trying to neg a club discount?

Really cannot sing its praises, enough!!!
