Swapped my rears to the front as treads heading towards 3mm. That way I can replace them ASAP and put the new ones back on the back for winter.

Wondering if this was wise as car feels very odd! Had balancing done on them but since then car still seems to wander more. Wondering if the tyres almost wear according to suspension, etc?

How long ago did you swap them?
They probably need some time to bed in, different wear patterns etc (for example, on the front you tend to lean on the shoulder a bit more in corners).

Also, have you adjusted your pressures since swapping?

Yeah, tyres get used to being on the corner they are.
Rears will tend to wear flat, fronts not so much depending on geo.
Its even worse if you go side to side back to front, thats why not recommended.
You are only using part of tyre at moment but it will soon feel better, would not suggest doing just before going on track but ok on rd, just go bit steady...

When you get your new fronts check the tracking and of course make sure you adj the pressures...

I had a similar thing once. My fronts had warn more in the middle due to being slightly over pressure. I got the geo checked twice because I thought something had been knocked out. The car was wandering all over the place. Changed the tyres front to back and the handling was perfect again!

Thanks for all the replies, hoping it will be ok.

Steering seems very tight - have some paranoia as when I had 'issues' with my alternator bracket, the belt was refitted and the specialist said the steering pump sounded slightly noisy (although they did need to top up the fluid!)

Am considering a swap myself, had some new ps3's fitted a couple of months ago, have nearly new pe2's on the back and don't think the car turns in as well, this may just be me getting used to the car so a swap would confirm this.
