I say this as advice from experience (and ignorance of thinking Renaults will forever manage to avoid rust).
Try and get the undersides of your cars properly protected by someone who knows what they're doing. I'd been used to BMW's of the early 2000's (e46 and e39) so was familiar with common rust on these. I thought the Clio's would be impervious but at 17 years old and what must be the last 10 years+ of my Trophy being in Scotland, road conditions have taken their toll on the underside and the rear arches.
I've decided to spend a small fortune and get this fixed given values will only ever go one way and there's nothing quite like these. That being said, if I could rewind the clock back to 2014 when I got the car and have the underside fully protected I have no doubt the underside and arches would be in completely different condition.
Protek in Bathgate (courtesy of Gally on Cliosport) will replace the rear quarter panels among other bits and pieces and Preserve and Protect (https://preserveprotect.co.uk/) will work their magic on the underside.
If you're based in the south of England your car will have no doubt had a much easier life so get it done now!
