Hello There!

I'm booked in for a respray next week. I know it didnt look at all bad, but i do have a very particular eye for detail. No offence to any previous owners...

I have the side skirt decals courtesey of the shop and a rear hatch 'elf' decal. I have been looking for cill guards but cant find anything online. It wouls be nice to get the original decals for the rims as well.

Does anyone have contacts?

Anu experience of removing the cill protectors without ruining them?

And before anyone gets angry. Yes, I do realise that I will not get my money back. Its in great shape and good milage so for me it deserves a fresh coat of paint!

Great to see another Trophy having some tlc lavished on it Peter. I wouldn’t worry too much about other folk questioning your motives, it’s your car and your prerogative to do what you like with it. 😊👍
Just out of interest, who are you getting to do the paint? Do you have a body shop you would recommend for this? I’m always interested, as I find it very difficult these days to find anyone capable of doing good paint which lasts. All too often I see (& have experienced) microblistering and sinkage after a few months.

Its actually going to Twenty Ten Engineering in Redditch, Worcs. They are a classic Range Rover specialist so are doing this as a favour for me. They are just finishing my 1994 Vogue SE, which is looking great, so I'm giving it to them.
They are replacing all of the glass with Pilkington as mine is pretty badly scratched. I'm told its the correct tint and all matching.
Ive uploaded a pic of the Rangey work in progress.
I stopped worrying about naysayers a long time ago...;)Range Rover.jpeg

This sounds like it's going to be Epic when it's finished Peter, so I'll look forward to your progress with this.

Have you also thought about ordering the stickers that go by the drivers door striker, I'd seen that there is a tread on here as to where you can order them if not already.

Gave Peter the spare one I had for the top but still had the bottom one Nick. Think the same company can replicate the bottom one too. 👍🏼

For #256 we heated the sill protectors up and slowly lifted them with a razor blade. We had to press them flat while they were off the car as they wanted to curl up.

I have a thread on here about all the parts I sourced for #256 restoration. Will dig it out and post it here later as I hunted down new badges, rubbers and plastics.

Original speedline stickers are not available but you can find a close reproduction on ebay.

The list of things I bought.

The stand out parts are the new badges, rubber seals and the new rear wiper arm/plate. They really make the new paint pop.

Great list Mike -

However sometimes it's just the little bits that give the best results - these screws make a massive difference in my view.

Also don't forget to order the front black bumper stickers - deffo one of my favourites - link works below to Ebay

If you are painting your front bumper you will need the below stickers to finish the job off.

You can get Renualt ones but they are a fortune for the same thing.

Having just restored #88 including a full respray, i would say it has been more than worth it Peter, there's something deeply satisfying about having a 20 year old car that looks & drives like the day it left the showroom.

We were able to reuse the original cill protectors by gently heating them with a heat gun to soften the adhesive then running fishing line underneath to separate them from the paintwork- this worked great and didn't distort the protector at all, just make sure you get it warm enough to soften the adhesive but not too hot that it starts distorting the material.

I ordered 'Speedline Corse' decals to go on the wheels following their refurb, they are OK but not as accurate as i would like so the search continues for a more accurate set at present. Link to shop on eBay i purchased the first set from is here in case you wish to give them a try: https://ebay.us/m/JnsSTK

Another thing I was going to mention Peter that makes another massive difference and definitely lifts the front end are a set of new front fogs lights - but how much Now - and what a price difference between KAM and RPD.

You've reminded me Nick. I need to get some of these before they go NLA... ;)
