mk 2 172 unstable at speed

on my last trackday i hit 120 ish and the car seemed to go all floaty at the back, the surface was really smooth and i was goin arrow straight!
any idea?? :?

Wouldn't at all be surprised if they were it being a mk2 172 and all...

The marks on the driveway would suggest its not uncommon on Mk1 172's either :wink:

Yeah the rear shocks on my 172 went and very quickly the car became a real handful to drive, even at 30mph the rear end felt 'floaty' in corners. I'd only done 30k miles on them with some trackdays and that was the end of them.

Having said that, at 120mph in a small hatch with no real weight over the back wheels, things will tend to be a bit like that :lol:
