I am 100% NOT selling this car.

Instead I'm arranging an agreed value with my insurance provider, but I'm after some guidance on what value to go for.

Assume the car is standard, bar wiper mod & stainless steel ProSpeed custom exhaust. (It actually has a fair number of mods but they're all declared and covered on a like-for-like basis, so ignore them for this purpose).

It's in excellent condition and has recently been treated to a professional detail (wearing CarPro CQuartz Finest). Current mileage is 52,000 and I'm the third owner. It has full service history at RenaultSport specialists, dampers were refurbed at BG and belts changed as per schedule. Oil (Fuchs Titan Pro Race S) changed 6-9 monthly.

Last year I had agreed £6,500.

This year I'm going to start the bidding at a more realistic £5,500...?

I guess the best way to look at it is if my car was written-off how much would I have to spend to replace it with a near identical Trophy. Is that fair?

I've been following prices for a good while now and would say £5.5k to replace with a dealer sourced car sounds about right

Sounds a good one mate. Surely valuing it higher would make more sense? Maybe 5750?

or will the insurance quote be more than if u valued it at 5500? Not sure how these valuations with insurers work

It's FOC but has to be realistic. If not then they'll just pay out comparing it to a dodgy 182 and I'll end up with £3k if I'm lucky!

I guess the question is why would you value it £1,000 less than you did when you insured it last year? If there hasn't been a significant increase in mileage I would stick with last year's valuation. As a rule of thumb I always follow that rule and only ever increase the valuation as the years go by (not every year though), but must admit I haven't insured the Trophy that way as it is not on a limited mileage, agreed value policy. Of course, one need to be mindful of the current market prices.

I see what you're saying, Lankan, but it has to be realistic and I'm not sure £6.5k in today's world is representative. In my opinion the market has come down in the last 12 months, maybe not a grand, but that was a very keen valuation in the first place.

Hopefully it'll all be academic anyway!

I have mine at an agreed valve of £5,500 fully comp.

All my mods are declared but if i do any performance engine mods (Cams, Turbo, S/C) my insurance goes up.

All my suspension is declared (AST Top Mounts/ Poly Bushes) along with my Mk1 Yozza Exhaust at no extra cost.

The only way i can see the valve going up is if prices rocket through the roof or there is a sudden 300 Trophys in a large road accident piled up one after the other.
