Frayz’s Inferno orange 182 - Back in the old flame

Well,
It’s still here and I’ve found all sorts of little jobs to do, even though I haven’t even signed the paperwork on it yet.

Fixed-welded exhaust, ordered new exhaust hanger for the BTM.
Fixed all the heatshields, made new extra large sections to act as repair washers.
Fixed Alpine headunit (mic had fallen out the back)
Fixed airbox (garage had left it loose)
Replaced foglights with new OEM Valeos and PPF filmed them
For protection.
Refurbed the headlights.
Jetwashed the underside.

Cleaned a lot of stuff too, although needs de stickering and a Polish.
More bits in order to try and make it as fresh as possible again.

All sorts of little odd jobs I’ve found but too much to list.
Tracked the exhaust rubber for the BTM system down to that for a Honda. So ordered one of those.

Silly things like removing the windscreen seals and cleaning behind them.
Soaking the seatbelts with APC and jetwashing them silver again.

Keen to put my mark back on her, I took a few stickers off and added my Ring sticker back on the rear of the car. Also added some Speedline decals to the rims.

Yes I know the R needs a clean after doing rain duty last week to get the Clio exhaust fixed. Haha

Congrats! I've never known cars to get under your skin the way these little things do...couldn't imagine parting with mine now.

This mornings jobs were to try and eliminate the boot/parcel shelf rattle. (Of which so far so good)
The tailgate rubbers were shot, one was missing and the other was hard as nails. These are still available from Renault and at a cost of less than £5 for a pair, the new soft rubbers mean the tailgate closes with a much less aggressive thud.

Also traced the parcel shelf rattling up and down against it’s mounts and tapping the top of the inner tailgate trim.
I used some soft side Velcro on these panels to cushion the parcel shelf and now it fits snug.

Popped down to see a good friend of mine Boyd @ BR Car detailing for him to ceramic coat the newly restored headlight lenses. This should provide years of UV protection providing I continue to look after them.
He based alongside GT101 who specialise in sales, service and performance for all things GT and Mustang.

The obligatory “knife to a gunfight” photo was required. Ha.

Haha, well i cant promise updates every day. I am finding odds and sods all the time though.

Ive just booked it in for a big refresh with Alex at AW Motorworks, hes going to be doing a full belt servive with dephaser, water pump and coolant etc. While its in i think i'll get hime to put a new clutch in it and chnage teh gearbox oil. As its on 112k now and the pedal is damn firm. I know shes never had a clutch so would be a nice freshen up while the front end is off.

LMAO, i'll tell him you said that
First time ownership i used to get the belts done at Engine Dynamics, however upon calling them now, they say they no longer do any servicing or workshop work.
They reccomendded me to Alex as he appears to be my local guy other than Mark Fish. Mark has a great rep, but his prices clearly reflect his reputaion and ive heard nothing but good stuff about Alex.

Yeah, make sure you do tell him! Hahahaha! Seriously, he's really good and used to handle the workshop / Clio turbo build side of things at Engine Dynamics. He then went solo and has a (deserved) good reputation.

I think I still have a Cup alternator / bracket setup that he wants... oops.

Yeah E.D. did say that chances are it was Alex that did my belts previously when he was working there.
I can see this "cheap" Clio being a right little money pit becasue im so fussy. Its nowhere near as mint as it was when i sold it and arguably i should probably have bought a Trophy. But i have so much attchment to this car, a a straight swap was as easy as it was ever going to be to get me back in a decent 182

Interesting, what is the aftermarket plating you have attached to the rear of the front arch.

Its a mini stone guard made from Kaylan. It’s the same stuff that used to be used as WRC mudflaps. It’s doenst degrade like PVC. It’s extremely durable. I’ve used them on lots of my cars.
They only stick out circa 20mm and flush with the lowest part of the sill. But should stop a lot of road rash up the car.

Also forgot to mention the stainless fixings are in the OEM locations and the top of the guard is stuck using body trim tape. So no extra holes or damage to the vehicle by fitting them.

I have excessive road rash on the flare just in front of the rear arch, I suspect because of the extra negative cancer I run. I wonder if these are the answer. Shame you can't buy just the fronts.

You can buy what you like. I called them up and said I only want a pair. So that’s what he sent me.
