Hiya Guys,

Like a few of you I think and good ol George K in particular the only real competion the CT has in class/age and size is the Intergra DC5....
So it was very interesting when George and I were both entered into the Chivenor sprint (Devon) a couple of weeks back.

I have always thought there is not much that out handles the CT but the DC5 with a reported min of 220HP in standard form and the CT with its slightly puny (if Torquey) 170ish HP .. The Teg although about 10% heavier should win in a straight line.

Even more interesting there was in the Chivenor tradition a dead straight 1/4 timed start...

So how did it go?... well we both did low 15s/mid 90 mph runs so basically a dead heat.

Both cars are bog std, George has non std susp but that makes little diff, so a tremendous result for the CT, still the perf bargain of the decade....

So the 15's were the dead straight? What about the twisty bits? I thought GK was managing up to two secs better on the same tracks as he was achieving in the T. :? (I'd also like to know what he thinks that is down to :) )

This was a new track layout and I was quicker on the full course but I am a seasoned sprinter and George is a hillclimber.
That was not the point of the post it was about the fact that the Clio held the DC5 over the 1/4 mile drag when I thought (and the p/w figure sugests) that the CT would be easily beaten.

I expect G will be along with his own thoughts later......

Not doubting, just trying to clarify. (I'd actually have to get my arse into gear and do it before I could properly comment)
But I'm pleasantly surprised as well :)

Pete is a very seasoned and expert campaigner and can go round circuits quicker blindfold than I could with max everything. The standing quarter times were on good tarmac straight off the start line and as Pete says were quite a revelation. My best was 15.19 at 98 mph and his 15.04 at 95 mph. His first 64 feet were 2.68 on that run and I did 2.74, so very little here. Weights are published as 1070 for the T and 1170 kg for the DC5 respectively. Again on published bhp the T is 166 bhp/tonne and the DC5 184 - ho hum. What would be interesting is if anyone could find any road tests with s/quarters.

From the DC5 forum I would have expected slightly better time, say 14.8 ish.

I have not yet r/roaded the DC5, and really should to establish a baseline before starting on any engine mods.

Thanks for the kind words George, only hope I can live up to them at Castle Combe Sprint next Sat (Free entry anybody welcome if you want to see some grass roots motor sport....) when I am in the rather more highly strung Lotus!

It will be interesting to see what you can make of the Teg engine in terms of + power, dont go too mad mind as I will have to start buying bits for the T.

Hoolio, you can take car to drag strip on certain days and have a go.. our club is having a day at Long Marsden next year I will give a shout and perhaps can see a few Ts together.
