bouncing oil gauge?

Why does my oil gauge go from half way (normal when hot) down to zero again and vice versa, does it intermittantly but got me worried.
The oil light came on the other day and I topped it up a bit, dipstick shows that its half way between min and max.

I take it the gauge is showing oil temperature and the sensor is fooked or the oil is moving away from the sensor under cornering, braking.

any ideas.

OK just seen another post about this problem, looks like its just the sensor.

do you mean the engine temp guage...?
has you car's engine bay been jet washer recently?

yeah the temp gauge gauge, havent had the engine washed but it did stall coming off the motorway a few weeks after a 120mile drive to heathrow when there was really heavy rain. (actually parked near another trophy at the airport:T??PHY)

Mine did this the other day twice! Both times under hard :twisted: acceleration.

I was sure I'd read something about the temp sensor doing something like this on here before....
