The Twingo Sachs damper came in 2 sizes.

54mm & 60mm for Twingo R1 & R2 Cars

Oh and not that I want to be a picky c**t but I "think" that these are not the genuine 182 trophy Sachs dampers.

They are the Twingo Sachs dampers if I recall as the trophy damper part numbers are 8200514733 & 8200514734

The twinge dampers started part number 7711167413 & 7711167414 and from what I recall the Twingo R1 dampers came with the scraper seal and the standard trophy Sachs never.

One way of telling would be to pop off the rubber boot that's covering the piston shaft on the damper.

I wonder what happened to the original wheels and suspension then? It seems strange for such a low mileage car for someone to bin them. Are the replacement shocks the group buy ones.

These Renault Sachs Motorsport dampers were fitted to the Renault Clio 182 Trophy as standard. The front Sachs motorsport dampers use remote canisters to allow compression adjustment.

The official Renault new part numbers 7711167414, 7711167413 and 7711433946 have superseded the original Renault part numbers (8200514733, 8200514734 & 8200519954)

Going back to the alloy Speedlines wheels.

The OE Wheels from dealership when new back in 2005 came with the small Speedline logo / graphic as @hoolio pointed out.
These "Could" wear away though washing and chemicals along with anyone who has at there wheels refurbished.

The original alloys went backorder / NLA from Renault and then they produced the second set of Speedlines wheels that came with all the casting marks on them as per picture below.

From looking at the walk round video the car does have genuine Renault trophy alloys but all be it the second edition that Renault then later produced after the original OE ones went back order / NLA.


The Speedlines Turini's direct from Speedline have a different centre on them which tells them apart from the Renault ones as per picture below also.

The Clio 182 was out before the Twingo R1.
The original part number was 8200 on all trophy Sachs dampers.

The Twingo R1 came along and part numbers started 77111.

The trophy Sachs went NLR but you could still buy the Twingo R1 60mm Sachs dampers with the 7711

The part numbers will All cross over as they are interchangeable parts and the reason for the part numbers being different was due to the model of car that they fitted.

It’s very easy to get all part numbers and lump them onto a site but like I say the 77111 Twingo part number should come with the scraper seal where as 8200 OE 182 trophy Sachs never.

They are original OE standard rear shocks as they all came in grey so they have been boxed for a very very long time as the black ones came around in 2015.

As for the fronts it’s very possible that the fronts are from the group but as it was all Twingo 60mm Sachs dampers.

A lot of hard work went into that purchase well done - I with I was part of it in 2018 as I paid a lot more for mine - but needed it to finish the car off

It's an interesting question isn't it. Perhaps one of the previous owners decided that when the items needed a refurb chose to replace with new items instead, and in the case of the dampers put on the Cup units. As Marc notes above, the part number on the dampers supplied with the car seem to point to them coming from the group buy on here in 2018. What happened to the original dampers is anyone's guess, sold on is the most likely.

Well spotted, the part number on the box they're in is certainly for a cup damper: 8200681125.

Standard OE trophy rear Sachs from factory where silver / grey.
They then went NLA and then after weeks of work I managed (me personally) got Renault Uk to do another batch which came with same part number but in black.

There is a sticky topic about the rear dampers in the forum and it shows that the black version came out in 2015 and ran for a while before going NLA again.

At one point the trophy rear Sachs damper part number superseded over to a standard Clio MK2 Damper , NOT cup or 182 Damper but a standard 1.2 16v damper.

The fronts do look very much like the group buy Twingo 60mm dampers with 77111 part number.

like I say they should all have came standard with the Twingo scraper seal at the top as the 182 trophy Sachs never.

As for the wheels I also find it interesting why the factory ones are not on it but the revised Renault ones are.

I’m sure if you hunt hard enough there is something in the forum regarding the factory wheels going NLA and the newer version coming out.

Oh I'm not sure Marc, I remember picking up my brand new 172 Cup from the dealer back in 2003 and discovering 2 damaged alloys..

Interesting to see the differences, its like spot the difference. Was not aware of the alloy variants I must admit.

Wonder how many still on original front and rear damper types, springs and all original alloys? I think I might be one of them but will have to check my alloys just incase!

This does look a lovely example and I certainly tried to justify the price on the Facebook group with the ridiculous comments people were putting about the price tag and how it was worth peanuts.

Why would it? Some of the parts are unobtainable, or replacement part nos. The value is in the Sachs dampers and the overall condition of the car.

For me it's no surprise original suspension goes missing, given the propensity for the Sachs dampers especially to leak. Remember when values were low people wouldn't have been able to justify the running costs. I haven't run Trophy dampers for years because they are just too much aggravation, despite using recommended rebuilders on here they have leaked after very little use. I also think it's important (for me) to keep the Sachs dampers in the best condition give they car the car's USP, which means off the car!

Anyway, having eyed this car up close it is easily the best I have ever seen. Hope it sells as it benefits us all!
