Well i have decided that as i am skint what with moving in with my gf a couple of weeks ago, that i wanted to do something with the car.
All of the obvious options, such as exhaust, engine mods are out of the window, as is the harnesses and brake upgrades.
So i have taken the spanner to...
Today I took the spanner to the car and completed the obligatory induction modification.
I however routed the intake pipe slightly differently and also used the old pipe as a feed for the second air hole intake to the front of the box (currently taking in hot engine air).
I also played...

As I had today off work I decided to modify the air-intake system on my Trophy by removing the air-valve located near the horn to see what would happen as most after-market CAI on the market (ITG Maxogen & Viper etc) recommend removing the valve on installation.
To my surprise the cars feels...
Over on cliosport.net I have read many threads that describe the 182’s 5K kick.
I had often thought that these threads over hyped the kick as I can only just feel an increase at 5200 revs in my Trophy, but recently I drove Steve’s (sm wrc) 182 and his car really does kick...
(Decat + std exhaust)
Has anyone done this?
Thoughts? as this may be my next mod on the cheap...cant afford the sports cat (lol)
Ive read it frees up the exhaust flow, increases noise etc etc
Does anyone know what the fine would be if stopped at the road..(not very likely tho?)
Finally got the chance to put the car on the rollers to see what it was pushing out.
Very happy with the results.
180.4bhp at the Fly with aa correcting figure of 184Bhp not that makes much of a difference.
Will get the graph up so you lot can see the results.
One thing i have...
Just interested as its a "special" anyhow...

The recent posts about the types of chips/ecu that you can get for the Trophy has got me very interested in the subject. Trying to work out what is the best of the options available.
The chips/ecu's I know about so far are as follows:
Replacement ECU with R'sport map - The type that Nik...
Hi all.
I'm seriously thinking about buying a Trophy in the next couple of months or so when the cash comes through and have a few questions. As always, after getting used to a car we start craving more power, however, with this car I don't think I'd go as far as increasing engine capacity or...
Have done 1300miles in my Trophy since mid-Dec. It has improved noticeably since then, but I still find it underpowered. I would expect more from a lightweight car with 2-litre 16valve engine - it just doesn't pull like I was expecting. A test drive I had in a standard 172 two years ago seemed...
I appreciate as much as anyone that the Trophy is a great hot hatch, but if anything, what would you liked to have seen the Trophy released with?
For me it is more power! I was really hoping that Renault were going to release a Clio with the Meggy 225 engine in it, failing that I was hoping...

Looking at the air intake behind the n/s headlamp it appears to have an external bellows connected to the inlet manifold by a vacuum pipe. Presumably this is to do with emissions? Does anyone know exactly how it works and what happens if the pipe is disconnected, as I would guess is the case...
