No idea when it comes to standard engines, Dave... :P ;)
Realistically I reckon you could get an engine for 3-400 quid (using the ancillaries, etc. you already have) and then factor in 5-600 for cambelt, couple hundred extra for fluids and other miscellaneous / unexpected items. If you can fit...
That's a shame mate. Someone just needs to drop a second hand engine in there and they've got a nice Trophy to enjoy for decent money. Especially if they can do the work themselves.
Mansfield, eh? My hometown. I'll be up at the weekend visiting my folks and sister.
Sorry to hear that mate, that's really bad luck :(
Same engine in all 182's mate. You can even drop a 172 lump in as they are 99.9% the same and will offer the same power output.
There is always a bit of a risk but you can find engines with known history and get the belts and work sorted by the likes of Mick at Diamond Motors. It's not cheap but I think it's worthwhile on a Trophy that is in otherwise good condition. Fingers crossed - as Claude states, this is very much...
Sorry to hear that mate :( I hope it's not as bad as you think. If the cambelt has let go then it might be worth sourcing a second-hand engine and dropping that in?
Paul Temperton again stated that the Renault coil packs are no longer available, hence suggested the following (for people who may need to buy such an item).

There was a guy on the Trophy facebook page who was seemingly interested in a binder. No idea if he's on this forum or not, though.
Thanks for the quick delivery - pleasure doing business :)
@TonkaTruck
I think I might treat myself to one of each colour (already have the red background). Would you prefer I bought via ebay or are you happy to do it via PM here? :smile:
Ongoing upgrade plans mean that my trusty and reliable Pro-Speed exhaust is no longer needed and is up for sale. It's a custom full stainless system that was expertly crafted by Charlie at Pro-Speed, Cardiff, and lived on my RenaultSport Clio 182 Trophy for many happy miles.
The system...
I'm a big fan of Mick at Diamond Motors, too. Total confidence in his work and attitude - so much so he's doing a few 'little' jobs on #165 for me shortly.

It's usually best to contact him via the contact from on his website (or phone call).
I believe there's a 172 Cup with 13,500 miles on it in a collection that my good friend looks after... however, that will likely never be sold and I don't think it's even been driven in the last 5 years (other than turning the engine over and keeping it fresh and maintained).
