Patrick, as you say the thrust bearing sits easier with the flat side sitting on top the spring plate. Nick, yours is different again to the version in my pic, which is the original. You have the bearing that sits on the spring plate, then the doughnut sits on that. The brass insert then slides...

Does anyone know the reason for the write off? As above, It’s difficult to see much more than the value of scrap and a few parts. Tot up the cost of just a few of the jobs, with the write off marker and there are better options out there.

Yes but they attach the grill and the bumper should pull away from that allowing a little more access to the mechanism. Be very careful pulling and pushing. The bonnet dent is a pig.
