So was all over this car again.
Spotted roughly in the same place and still has original front Sachs on the front.
No lacquer on the whole rear and the roof is a mess.
Inside is very dirty and very very worn out and it’s full of rubbish from shoes, screen wash bottles and bags.
I done some digging last night trying to find out who the owner or the garage was that had it.
I was met by an old pikey with an Irish accent, 2 lads around the age of 11 asking what I was doing and 2 Romanians rebuilding 2 white MK4 Clios into one.
Unfortunately The car is in an area where there is A) A lot of travellers B) Units doing Cut & Shut jobs C) A lot of young Eastern European guys working at 2am in car parks D) There must in excess of well over 200+ cars crashed & scrap cars within this large complex (It was an old crips factory years ago)
The car body is bad, Really really bad but on the + side it still has everything on it, Sachs, Spoiler, Seats, Trophy wheels, washer jets.
So we have a massive update.
Found the owner of the car after another hour of bobbing about dodgy units and things.
The owner is a very nice guy, knows exactly what he has got and what it is.
Has had some work done to it and he has spare parts , bumpers along with other things.
He gave me a price of it as it stands and also a price once it’s fully fixed as he does plan to fix it.
He also told me he “thinks” the car number is 88 but he definitely said it’s in the 80s.
They owner along with all the dodgy garages and cut and shut shops in the above area are parking there cars (Most with no tax or MOT) in a shopping car park and people are going nuts as there seems to be a lot of cars everywhere.
The car park is now dishing out private parking tickets and are talking about clamping and removing cars.
So went to get the wife's car washed and the guy gave me a bit of paper saying Jon is looking for me.
Jon is wanting me to buy his car, Drove into the car park today to see if it was still there and seen this -
Now I know that the car still has the following parts but after a look today its maybe going to be a headache.
Front Recaros - A lot of wear and burns in the seat bases
Front Sachs - badly corroded (Might still be fine)
Rear Sachs - badly corroded
Trophy Wheels - with need a full strip back and refurb
Trophy spoiler - seems to be the best part.
Steering wheel - worst I have ever seen
Heater control panel - Its white as backing has fully came off.
It will need a full brake overhaul and I know the ARB is burst and possibly snapped (Owner Told Me)
As it was sitting he wanted £5k when I spoke to him and then I believe if he was to fix it he was looking at £12k+
My Views is its worth about £500 as you would be lucky to get that for the front seats and Sachs together.
Bearing in mind it has been writing off and is 88k. No service history or history on belts , Bonnet is blue as it popped open when driving so "Might" have some roof damaged.
Take the Sachs, Wheels, Seats, Spoiler off it then its just a red Clio that needs £1000s spent on it.
There’s something about this tatty old thing that I’m oddly drawn to, but in no shape or form is this a £5k car no matter how deep your pockets. The owner is sadly dreaming if they think that. I’d say they’d be doing well to sell it for £1k tops.
As above, It’s difficult to see much more than the value of scrap and a few parts. Tot up the cost of just a few of the jobs, with the write off marker and there are better options out there.
It was written off in July 2020, The current owner told me he had it before covid and covid was announced in Jan 2020.
When I questioned him about the write off the stupid look showed and instantly "cant be, I don't know that" answers started.
Yeah the car is 3 owners and 88K with MOT and TAX but I would not pay anymore than £500 for it.
The cost of fixing that is going to be crazy and as we know everything is going up.
I would love to get under the bonnet and see also.
