Thanks Marrow - the coolant level looks fine and no signs of leakage. I'm hoping a bit has just leaked following the freezing conditions (although not sure how this would have happened!) and the smell will not return when everything thaws out!

Found the main roads absolutely fine but struggled like hell to get up my driveway which is pretty steep! Mum's Yaris and sister's 206 both flew up it but the Trophy just wasn't biting. After some shovelling and pushing it's now finally back up on the drive where it belongs! No major smells etc...

I work in Theale so drive around that area everyday. Don't often go actually into Reading unless needed as the traffic is a nightmare! I think I've seen 1 Trophy in the past year and that was on the M4 at J11.
