Well i got a reply from ktec who say to use engine oil from within the engine bay as it's more effective than 3 in 1. I think i will try and get grease in there when i take the whole lot off the car. I have issues with the passenger side beyond the top mount. Significant knocking over bumps and...
really? blimey i didn't get anything like that! Just a sheet of paper with fitting instructions! I'll try 3 in 1 in the morning, cheers for that, being light it should get to work in there straight away.
Does anyone know the best method to grease these? Using spray grease from within the engine bay, or remove the damper assembly from the car...I will do this in time, but haven't got the time available at the moment so wondered if the 'within car' method might work for the time being? I've...
As an option I sent mine to bg to strip them first, sent back to me to get them blasted and coated, then send them back to bg for refitting. The external reservoirs unbolt, which just leaves the steel damper casing and the alloy reservoirs to get blasted and coated. It's much easier for the...
You don't get new nuts and bolts from BG, but you can get them from Renault if they're badly corroded, but they're pretty strong so surface rust won't be a problem. Give them a scrub with a wire brush and a spray with grease/oil after fitting to help slow rusting. You may consider the Eibach...
cheers liam, i'm going to email ktec in that case and ask for some advise. I did wonder if the bearings were either a) rubbish or b)dry, but assumed they were sealed bearings. That's superb, at last i'm making progress with this, many thanks!
what i do is to put the jack on the subframe, where a horizontal piece of metal crosses a vertical piece...the vertical piece is where the strength will be in lifting, so there's no chance of bending any horizontal metal...if that makes sense. I use a spot which behind the front wheel, and to...
Allo mate, I think i see what you mean, and i think i'll have to remove the damper assembly and have a look. Just seems strange that it's only just come on since the cold weather. Although perhaps the weather is just coincidence to something else that has occured. It's both sides doing it, as i...
oh and by the way, you can get the original steering wheel re-trimmed with better quality leather and stitching if you wish to keep the standard feel. Cost approx £170.
It was my outlook that if the dampers had covered enough mileage to be worn, then the bushes have probably seen better days. However, looking at them they didn't seem to be too bad, but i'd decided to try poly bushes. After running poly wishbone and arb bushes for 9months, i find the knocking...
The rear Koni's make a really nice difference. On the softest setting they're just a bit firmer than the sachs, but turn them up a bit and they go firm, the car feeling the bumps much more. But under heavy braking the rear doesn't rise up like with the sachs, and doesn't push the front around at...
I'm a bit perplexed by this, within the last month or so, i've been getting loud twanging/donging noises when maneuvering. The other weekend i checked over the complete suspension, to make sure noting was loose. I found no faults, but i tried tightening the front damper assembly top nut inside...
That sounds very nice, and a perfect purchase. I can vouch for the suspension mods, they change nothing to the original Trophy feel, but improve turn in, and i turned the rear adjusters on the konis 360 degrees today and oh my gosh the rear is so much more planted to the road!
I'm not sure what it is, but i've just had some sexy new flanged nyloc nuts and high tensile M12 bolts turns up so i'll fit them with some loctite and 75nm, and hopefully that'll solve it...and i'll make sure there's no grease down there too! cheers lads.
75 okay cheers, i'm drawn to threadlock purely because the new nyloc nuts and bolts are shaking loose. I've bought replacements from Namrick this time so should be better quality, and 270 high strength threadlock. I'll use a dab coz i don't want to have to keep jacking the car up to tighten...
They keep coming undone! I tightened them coz i was getting a knocking noise, which solved it, now the noise is slowly returning. The joints are new, as are the nuts and bolts, but the nyloc-ing bit isn't doing it's job. Does anyone know the torque required to tighten these? I'm going to buy new...
The bumper took some slight scratching when someone bumped into me a while back. So it eventually got booked in to Kream Developments in Rainham to have the bumper sprayed, along with the clio badge removed, the holes welded using small metal plates inside the boot lid, filled and sprayed. I've...
ah well he didn't touch the brake pedal sensor, there wasn't a fault with it.
Expensive yeah, big plastic thing that the steering column runs through. Enables the ESP system to know which way the steering is pointing when calculating which corner to apply the brakes to.
Just in case someone has this issue and searches in the future. The issue is solved. The steering angle sensor was replaced at a part cost of £165. It then had to be calibrated using Renault software. No idea why it broke in the first place, but all the lights are off on the dash and no fault is...
All sorted now, replaced the rear pads then took into garage. System was bled three times using a sucking method and now she's all good. Needs some more heavy braking to clear the discs/pads and they've been getting progresively better. All the lights on the dash related to the steering angle...
Sounds like a load of speculation to me, even the photo is highly photoshop'd. The sources say it 'might' happen, then the journalist is banding around specs and figures...I detest this sort of publication. Would be a nice car to see on the road tho.
Took my car into a local garage today to try and get my brakes working properly and he hooked it up to the diag. machine that come up with a steering angle sensor fault. Which explains why i have an ABS, Traction and SERV light on the dash. This has occured because i disconnected the steering...
That's great cheers for that fellas. I get the T back from the paint shop tomorrow, i've bought a new set of rear pads to solve any potential issue there, and will run the engine and bleed the system again with this neat little pressure kit. It can push though half a litre before needing the...
