Not sure why, but I messaged CC a few days ago to ask why the seller isn't responding to questions. They came back to me today to say they would look into it. This may have prompted the above response?

Hi Nick - thanks for the update. They do seem to keep their value but maybe that was too much £ for a 6 yr old car. I spotted some questions around a buckled wheel. The seller's response didn't seem too helpful. Folk still bid, as they always seem on CC. I personally would never buy a car without viewing in person. Maybe I'm old fashioned?

Trophy No.

Just a thought - so the Trophy was SORN'd for 14 years (2008 - 2022) and yet the heater control is peeling badly. I would have thought the lack of use would mean it would be in perfect condition. So perhaps the temperature/moisture levels are greater factors?

I've said this quite a few times before on here, and CS. The peeling of the heater panel has nowt to do with mileage/use, it's purely an age related de-lamination of the coating applied over the white plastic of the base unit. I've discussed with a number of companies the restoration of these panels and it's not an easy task as we think it originally used some sort of industrial screen printing type application which is hard for small companies to replicate - we've tried allsorts.

In my experience the panels seem to last about 7-8 years before the coating starts to crack and de-laminate.

Obviously storage conditions will have some bearing on this, as will extremes of temperature. That said, the panel on my #407 was replaced by the previous owner Ant in about 2017-18. Since then, the car has travelled around 6k miles and the heater panel I've purposely hardly ever touched for fear of damaging it or encouraging it to peel. The car has always been kept in reasonable conditions and indeed for the last 2 years in a professional dehumidified environment. Yet, despite this, the heater panel - much to my annoyance - started to de-laminate last year. The only solution is to try and have a stash of them kept in a very stable environment - for example under the bed in the spare room....

A permanet solution could be to retrim in black leather/cloth which has the markings for the heater already stiched on? I bet there are automotive re-trimmers who could do this? Or have I gone mad?
