No way! This is happening to my girlfriend's Focus at the moment, I refused to take it to the stealers thinking it was something I could solve, I sat inside the car with a hose running over it for ages and couldn't find where it was getting in, pollen filter, must have a look tonight.

Yer its as easy as that! replace the pollen filter only a few quid and hopefully it should stop. I never had any problems with the electrics afterwards

Mine was standard, ford said it was a common problem in some of the models. Mine was the 2002 facelift

I had exactly the same problem with my Ka and it spent ages with Ford testing it, they could never find anything, it was so frustrating! :x I had rust on the a pillar which I think was a direct result of water penetrating at the base probably where it was getting into the car - thankfully ford sorted it under warranty.. Amazing how gash the job was though as it was warranty! They didn't even clean the car, they just cleaned enough of it to do the repair - poor effort!!!!!!

No mods whatsoever, just a smelly pissy puddle under the seat, not in footwell. Maybe my girlfriend 'let go' when i took her for a spin and was too embarressed to say anything!!

Any gromets missing underneath???

Also on CS there was a thread about water coming in back of car & running under carpets & settling in rear footwell.

Boot carpet wet??
