Hello

For the longer term forum members I may be remembered, over the years having owned and enjoyed 3 Trophy now.

All have made way due to family, house projects or other cars to try over the years .. but now the big “humps” in life are in order, and I’m looking for a Trophy once again. This time to keep until such a time I’m too old to drive it .. simple stuff, just for the sheer joy and fun of driving.

I have a budget £10k give or take. Whilst I’ve been absent from posting too often I keep a keen eye on the forum and cars sales prices through CC and eBay etc and I actually think things have softened a bit and it’s a sensible budget for a decent example. Not chasing a unicorn example that I’d be afraid to drive and enjoy.

Must haves; Correct Sachs dampers, it’s Recaros and Turini’s, by preference be as OEM as possible. But not hung up about sensible in keeping upgrades/changes. Just the car to keep within the ethos of its original approach and character.

I’m not emotional about mileage, I’m going to keep it, I’m really driven by its condition, how its been maintained and its overall service history.

I’d be totally open to a project, car that’s been stored and needs recommissioning as long as the price reflects it.

Hopefully something available, I’ve had a good trawl of FB, eBay, PH, CC etc etc. conscious of what’s on the advertised market. One or two do appeal but not quite feeling it so far. So wanted to come to the Trophy forum Mecca and see what might be possibly available off market 🙃

And as a final message. To those Trophy owners who attend Bicester Heritage for the Scrambles. I love seeing your cars but I hold you all entirely responsible for me finding it impossible to see beyond a Trophy. I ve been pouring over your cars at the events all year 😆.

Oh - and Happy Christmas to all.

Thank you for sharing. Only my opinion, but I think £9.5k is pretty strong money for that car based on what I read from your posts. Good car but thought the auction bid first time was pretty fair. I will watch for second auction though 👍

What about Andy's car, #465, in the thread below, now at £8k which I think is a very fair price indeed given the level of recent expenditure, upkeep, enthusiast owner etc...

Hi - I’ve gone back to his ad about 10 times and almost messaged. The only thing stopping me is another Trophy with 155k miles in great shape and lots of positive spend etc sold last week for just under £7k (the one on PH). I was talking to the owner but too slow.

Also looked hard at the stolen/recovered car (keys only) which has had a lot of spend over past few years.

I guess placed wanted add to see if anyone is thinking about selling (being that sort of time of year) but yet to advertise. Hoping to get good handle on landscape of what is around.

Thanks for suggestions as all welcomed and appreciated.

I can vouch for Andy’s car having seen it in the flesh - also he is a mechanic himself and has done all the necessary’s - good looking car and certainly doesn’t look the mileage 👍🏻

This looks a clean car for the money - a little over the 10k though.

From the pictures at least, that looks pretty good Nick.

Had some money spent on it as well.
