around the £8k mark

Looking at your requirement's above I think it will be quite hard to locate one at your budget - unless it's had a hard life or has missing items.

Even high mileage well looked after vehicles do not fall with-in your parameters unfortunately -

Last two sold via PistonHeads below - not sure if either has had a cambelt recently or the sach's serviced - so maybe up-to another 2k spend on top.

However good luck with your search.

I'm going to echo @NickReilly063 here I'm afraid. It's doubtful these days that you'll tick all the boxes of your criteria with your budget. All of the examples on AT I would say are priced in the right sort of ballpark, and car number 190 on there is indeed within your budget at £7.5k.

Another barometer for pricing is the ongoing thread on here regarding Trophy sales via the Collecting Cars auction platform:

Makes interesting reading and a good idea of certainly mileage & pricing, however that's not always the whole story as obviously the key parts being present, history, number of owners, general condition and mechanical history all have an effect on prices.

That all said though, like Nick, I wish you all the best with your search.

i appreciate the messages and information, been tracking the prices for at least 6 months now. feel the collecting cars barometer is a little dated, most recent auctions of cars on collecting cars that fit my parameters follow as £7300, £9000 (81,000 miles), £6750, £9000 (77,000 miles), £7000. when talking of overinflation on AT i was referring to the 90,000 mile examples at £13000. number 190 seems like an option, however think it's about 8% - 10% too expensive as it requires a new bonnet most likely, some paintwork on the rear bumper and a sachs refurb (would purchase at 6.7 - 6.9) . do you by any chance know how much bg/cornering force charge for front refurbs right now?

thanks, adrians.

I'm not sure how the CC data set is 'dated' with the last entry of 17/10/2024... I'd say it's a fair representation of market fluctuations on an auction type platform, but what would I know... :D

Sachs refurb with BG, budget anything between £600 to £1,000, depending on what's needed. I'd fully expect in most cases these days to be erring towards the upper figure.

ETA: If you're looking for a car beginning with a 6, there's one on eBay, 103k miles apparently, no Sachs.

the last data entry of the CC data set on this forum is from 2022 no? that's why i referenced the latest sales on CC since i feel they reflect the market.

thanks for the info on the refurb.

had a look at the one on ebay with no sachs. has been on 7 day auctions at least four times, and not able to go for 6 so wouldn't feel comfortable paying 6 for it.

The 190 car on Autotrader doesn't Hpi unfortunately - have you got the correct Registration number ????

If so send it across to me and I'll do it for you - we are a nice bunch on here and are always willing to assist new members.

That car also needs a complete rear bench and door cards as one of the previous owners sold them - liked the 182 version better but that does take away it's orginality.

Buying cheap is not always best with T's - as costs will definitely run out of control as most owners on here know - and that's if you can find the parts in the first place.

🚗 🏆 ❤️

will get in contact with the seller regarding registration plate ! not really that fussed regarding the door cards and rear bench, as it will be a forever car that i will use a lot (will be rotated with a 309 gti).

expenses wises: what are the sneaky costs that add up when owning a trophy.

thanks, adrians

Looking at the MOT history, it's a bit strange how the rear tyres went from being OK to worn in 6k miles. I've known rear tyres last 50k on 182s what with them being so light at the rear.

I bought mine after a lot of umming and ahhing over what I really wanted out of a car. In the end, I wanted a fun, usable modern classic. I literally Googled this phrase!

On almost all of the lists I found, there was a Trophy.

I was considering a 6.2 C63, but I thought the running costs would be exorbitant, and the Clio would be peanuts relatively.

I was quite wrong on that front...

In two years I've needed a replacement engine (thanks to a bad non-OEM Febi thermostat), discs, pads, wheel bearings, brake piston kit, radiator, condensor. Whilst the engine was being replaced I had all the usual items sorted (clutch, belts etc).

I'm about to refurb the Sachs, wishbones, tyres and wheels.

These really are not the cheapest things to maintain in good order, especially as you get them to this age. And I bought mine in good condition from a very nice forum member.

But....

Get on a great B-road, in a sorted car, and there will be very, very little that will make you grin more than these pocket rockets!

Best of luck with your searching!
