Thanks mate, and you're welcome. I'm not going to apologise for the LFC wallet though... Lifelong supporter and looking forward to (hopefully) being able to win the Prem title this year. Or whenever it starts again. If it starts again!

Ah, a Boxster S - I'm a big fan of the Boxsters and Caymans, preferring the handling with the mid-engine layout. As tempting as a GT3 was I just felt right at home in the GT4. It is a fantastic sports car and it still wows me each time I see it and drive it, I still pinch myself sometimes. The seats certainly hold you in nicely - I think 'snug' is the word. Pretty comfortable for what they are, too. I can quite happily drive for several hours and not have any problems when I get out the other end.

These really are a great looking performance car,not surprised you never want to sell it.

Are you planning on changing any parts like the exhaust or just leave it all as Porsche intended?
I didn't realise they had 6 pot calipers at the front either.

It's amazing how often Porsche get these special cars just right.

I know I'm a bit biased but I think they look absolutely fantastic and that Porsche, as you say, got it right. The best bit is that it drives even better than it looks.

I have considered a few tweaks and upgrades (including a 25 grand DeMaan engine upgrade to 560whp...) but the reality is that I don't want to lose the Porsche extended warranty and benefits I currently receive. Owning one of Porsche's GT cars can be a bit of a pain in some ways; they are very strict on what you can and can't do if you want to continue to take advantage of the warranty. You have to use specific tyres, have all servicing carried out at an official OPC, ensure recalls are dealt with in a timely manner, amongst other things. Even a subtle upgrade (such as changing parts of the exhaust system) will invalidate the warranty. It's a shame as I have been offered some Fabspeed upgrades (amongst other things) to enhance the sound even more, whilst freeing up a few extra horses too. But having found out how much it costs to replace the engine and gearbox my preference is to stick with the warranty for a few more years to come! Even in standard form, it's still quite a beast and incredibly capable.

Yup, the 6-pot calipers are lovely and the whole front end of the GT4 is, to all intents and purposes, similar to the GT3 (but without a nose-lift system). The mid-engined layout means that the rear is pure Cayman though, the GT4 having extra reinforcement and custom fabrication for the different engine setup.

Out of interest,how long does the warranty last for?
I presume you can take a year or two but extend it up to a maximum amount of years if you are willing to pay for it...

That DeMann upgrade sounds interesting.
Does that just involve naturally aspirated tuning or does it go down the forced induction route to get that amount of power?

The standard manufacturer warranty is 4 years hence that ran out in January this year. As a sweetener to the deal, Porsche offered me two years extended warranty and Porsche Assistance. When that warranty period runs out then I will look to extend again - which is generally done in blocks of two years. It's about 1k a year which I think is pretty reasonable all-considered. This can be done for 10 years after which point you may have to look elsewhere for warranty or risk going without. Thankfully I don't have to worry too much about that just yet!

Yes, the DeMan engine upgrade is impressive and comprehensive (keeping it NA). Displacement is increased from the standard 3.8l to either 4.25l or 4.5l depending on the package and a whole plethora of changes comprise the package - pistons, conrods, manifolds, and much more. It's a shame they are based in New York...
