Yeah nice review by James.
He didnt go into a lot of detail on the Sachs etc but I guess the video was only 8/9 mins long so not as long as some of his other reviews.
Like you I'd love to try a William's.
There is something very iconic about them and Renault seemed to get all the main ingredients right at the time.
But like a lot of modern classics,they have increased a lot in value over the last few years.
The owner of the Trophy seems to have a very nice and very varied collection of cars,think James said he about 30 cars.
From legendary hot hatches to Skylines etc.

Perfectly safe if the car has been stored correctly, and there's no cracks in the sidewalls or between the treads, they wouldn't fail an mot.
Is it advisable, no.
Are they past best, absolutely.
Doesn't make them 'unsafe' though.
Okay to the letter of the law, youre correct, they wouldnt fail an MOT.
But, theyll be as hard as nails and would you wanna drive any kind of performance car on 15 year old rubber?

I agree they'll be hard, and no I wouldn't want them on my car, but doesn't make them unsafe, which is what the question was.
I personally disagree. They do not offer the same characteristics of a new / newer tyre.
Ive had perosnal experience of this on other cars, and to my mind theyre not safe. If youre a car dealer and want to flog someone a motor on its original rubber as some sort of positive aspect, then great.
But id be throwing them in the bin if i planned on driving anything.

You disagree, that's cool. But you seem to be missing the point. Of course they won't perform as well as a new / newer tyre, doesn't make them unsafe though, which I'll repeat, was the question.

I know the owner and he is an absolute gentleman and true petrol head. His car collection is incredible. James (JayEmm) is due back down to shoot more of the collection in the future...

if someone knew "km/h magazine", you will find here after my trophy and my Williams on for a contest "car of the year" i wanted to participate with one of the two cars but the twice have been selected. the winner will have a specific press article on 8 page and i hope to be lucky to put on one...

Yeah I was interested about the seats. The trendlines are good but I wouldn’t say they’re amazing. I find I’m comfy for short distances but get neck ache on longer runs.
I quite like Trendlines but they are too big for me, they still hold me well whilst the car gets thrown around but the seats in the new Fiesta ST are pretty snug.
Think they know a thing or two about tyres.

Completely agree with everything in that.
Still doesn't demonstrate that a 15 year old tyre is 'unsafe'.
I accept that a tyre past 10 years old is past it's best, but again, doesn't mean it's unsafe, just means it's not as effective, there's a difference.
Also the opening paragraph confirms this......
"There is no way to tell exactly how long a tire lasts......"
