Trophy prices

I paid £3.7 for mine with 125k on the clock. That's 10k a year which isn't much. Mechanically sound - few little cosmetic issues. Definitely a Trophy that I feel no guilt for driving....taking on a track day...or doing a hillclimb. If I were to sell it then I'd imagine it wouldn't be worth much more than what I paid...which is a pretty good place to be.

Sold mine a few months back for £4500, that had 123k on the clock so yeah you should be fine :)

I'm not sure Renault have made any other car in lesser numbers, in fact there can't be many main stream manufacturers who have made such low number units in any model. Therein lay the value really. I don't think anyone really knows for certain how many are left, certainly less than 500.
The discussions about making a better car for less are all valid but irrelevant. It comes down to a previously aired point I.e it's all down to what I says on the log book.

Only 291 on road and 114 sorn, the value is in the demand, small investers who can't afford bricks and morter are looking more and more at cars to invest in, as there money is doing nothing in there banks, Hense there looking for the next limited run, low numbered, affordable cars that's going up in value, early uk turbo scoobys, mk2 golfs, mg, mx5,ect but none of them have the low numbers like the trophy and are not as fun or as cheap to run. Trophy ticks all the boxes and will be a 20k in ten years, so I've got on the ship before it sails coz I made a mistake before with the escort cozzie had a chance to buy one 20 years ago now way past what I can afford. It's the world we live in.

Im a big fan of the trophy, but prices are abit silly imo

Id rather chuck set of sachs, recaros and spoiler on a normal 182 be quids in and sell them parts come sale time..

That's how I feel. I'm tempted to find a liquid yellow or petrol blue 182 and source the Sachs, Turini's and Recaro's to make a Trophy replica.

Why not, you could probably get a mint low mileage not abused 182 for around 3500 and spend another 3k at it.

It would easily be as good as some Trophy,s or even better.

Don't forget a lot of Trophy's have been hammered, yes it's probably made to be hence the Dampers.

Refurbishing the Dampers doesn't always necessarily mean it's perfect and like new in terms of handling. There are loads of other parts that needs to go with it.

Agree or not it's just my 1p thought!

I think you'd have to be mental personally.

And it will never be a trophy in many eyes it devalues cars a lot when start adding loads of bits that it never left the factory with, it prob would be better than most trophys but will never say it is on the v5, but horses for courses, if you want a genuine car that slowly going up in value get a trophy if you want to throw you're money at a car and then you may find it hard to sell, possible loose some hard earned dollar then go for it, I bet time you add it all up you could have bought a trophy in the first place and get the feel good factor that you're one of just a few to own one.

What did the BG that was exactly this sell for in the end or was it broken? The lad spent a fortune on it. Then took it a step too far in most people's eyes by also having Trophy stickers added.

To be honest I'd probably buy both a Trophy and a rare coloured 182 in the long run. It would still leave considerable change in my pocket if I sold my Sierra Cosworth to fund them.

No doubt I'd regret it, but I hardly use the Cossie and I'm not the type of person who likes my cars to sit in storage just looking nice. They should be driven. Finding the time to get it out is difficult at the moment. It's not as if they can be used as daily drivers any more.

At least Clio's can be used as daily drivers, I don't have to secure it to the hilt whenever I'd park it up, and I wouldn't worry as much about things that could go wrong. How many Clio parts are available compared to how many Cossie parts that are readily available? How cheap are Clio parts compared to Cossie parts? It all adds up.

If the cossie is as tidy as I can gather, id sit on it as an investment now, the prices for the good ones are only going one direction these days.

That is true. I'll see what happens. I'm not in a rush either way. It seems that Saph Cossie's are increasing at £2k per year. Trophy's are rising at around £1k per year, so in that respect, if the current trend continues, it'll be worth waiting.
