That’s a bonkers price. Are they just trying to recoup the £6k they spent. Cannot see it selling for that regardless if it’s original exhaust is still on it. I mean if that were to sell for £16k, what would a 1 owner 63k miler go for. The seller might be dreaming but then I’ll eat my words if someone buys it for £16k

Debated whether or not to row into this one but what the hell. I actually think it’s a really nicely turned out example. All the door shuts spotless, cabin all original and in very good condition (bar the ciggie lighter) all plastics good and black, wheels look good and it’s looking really pretty. A picture or two of the engine bay would not have gone amiss but that is going on for £6k too much.

What gets me is, what state was it in to require £6k worth of work?

Full belts, dephaser, water pump, coolant etc is approx £750. New tyres £350, discs and pads all round £250
Sachs aside, you can replace EVERY single suspension component on a 182 for less than £400 quid lol, and we all know what a weekend in a garage with a rotary polisher and some back to black can do. Even the absolute snotters shine up like a new penny with a bit of time on them.

Yep, it’s got to have had some paint somewhere I guess, but it’s the little things like new wheel nuts that point to the big stuff also being looked after.
Although those things can also flatter to deceive!

I hear what your saying Hoolio, but still, £16k for 66k miles? I would price it at around 9-10k as it’s been looked after, unless I’ve been living under a rock and the prices have shot up that much?

Does anyone know if the Trophy sold with 11k on? was up for 18.5k. The advert disappeared on eBay.

Original should also mean original splitter not a fabia one. It's a detail but.. It's a professional seller and I'm not shoked he tries to sell it as high as he can and this does not mean this price will become the new market value (it may become the new asking price though). Same happened in France on our 172 Cup (Ragnotti version here), asking prices were below €10,000 for many years then one guy asked for 14,000, sold it, asking prices went up from there and there's currently one for sale at €24,500 (£21,000), crazy!

I'm back here after quite a few years as I'm maybe on the hunt for a Trophy again. I came across this thread and couldn't help but add my tuppence worth as a potential buyer.

I got wind of this car through social media and started following the seller. They sell "modern classics" - how I hate that term - and seem to specialise in investing in cars. Interestingly it was on their own website briefly but has now been taken down. Nothing to say it's been sold as per other ads on the site.

Not only is it a bonkers price, but I find it really irritating that these companies do this. It will hang around for ages until someone daft enough to buy it at that price comes along, at which point the going rate will shoot up. It will get locked in a garage while genuine enthusiasts get priced out the market.

It’s actually my other Trophy and it was me who spent nearly £6k on the soft restoration.

I also collected the 11k mile one for a client and this car is just as good.

The splitter is actually from a Clio Cup Race Car, it’s not off a fabia. This was originally owned by the owner of Pyro Motorsport and he also owned the 11k mile car which will be coming to the market soon.

It does look great. Regarding price, whilst it does seem expensive these cars are increasingly costly to maintain and unless the price keeps pace with that they will eventually be seen as uneconomic to keep up to par. In my opinion.

Interested to know what cost you £6k mate? Did it have a fair bit of paint?
Or was it just a pollen filter at Mark Fish? :D (Jokes :D)

Oooops. Well there’s one of the reasons for my posts in the other thread! At least I said nice things about this one apart from saying it was too expensive.
