For Sale. Renault Clio 182 Trophy. No. 36/500.
£3995.
Buying a bigger house and building a new business means I have to part with my Trophy. Heres all the details.
I have owned a Williams 1 for 18years, so wanted to see what the fuss was about with the Trophy. I bought the car in Oct 2013 so have owned it for nearly 4 years. It came with a full service history and was on 79k. I’ve driven her 14k in 4 years as she is generally a 3rd car, I drive a truck and M3 normally each day. Today the mileage is around 93.5k miles.

You’ll notice that this car does not currently have Recaros, Trophy spoiler nor Speedlines fitted but does have some track and rally parts. Half way through my ownership I decided to use the car for trackdays and also 12car rallies. I had no need for the seats nor spoiler and wanted 15” white wheels so I sold the original gear to fund the cage, buckets, inlet, plus lots of other parts that were fitted. Most of those have been removed and the car returned close to standard. I don’t have the time now to return exactly to standard but that means the car is now cheaper for you to buy. If you wanted to put the seats, spoiler & wheels back then you can find some as they come up for sale fairly regular if you look around. It will cost you around £1000 if you sell the existing wheels & spoiler. The current temporary seats (standard half leathers) were just a stop gap in between bucket seats. The car does have MSA spec eyelets in the floor of the car to fit harnesses if you go for these.
I was always working on the car so there will be bits that I have missed. There are loads of pictures below. The car does have some scratches here and there from bushes etc out on country roads and there is a crack in the front bumper near the bottom – you may spot it in one of the images. There is a small hole in the dash where I had a map light fitted, the headlining is removed and it vibrates a bit because of the Black Evol Dogbone mount but it holds the engine nice and tight. The car needs a nearside driveshaft/CV joint and an O2 sensor.
I’ve done all my own servicing and most of the maintenance work myself. I have a workshop, plenty of tools and this is a hobby so silly not to. I have photo evidence showing the cambelt change and finished timing. I have the receipt for the parts purchased from Renault Parts Direct too which I will have available. There is also a photo of the parts purchased for the major service. I fitted the SM Inlet at the same time. The growl from this car as it goes up the road due to the inlet is something special. It’s guttural and resonating, not lightweight booming or rasping from an exhaust – its closer to throttle bodies that anything else. The car has not yet been mapped to suit the inlet and exhaust as I haven’t had time so I don’t know what bhp it is running.
Recent prices for Trophys are getting higher all the time, a bit too high for me personally. Setting a price has been a bit tricky but if you consider this car as standard would be around £5.5k/£6k, take off £1000 for seats/spoiler, and maybe £500 for bodywork issues plus £500 for the hassle that takes it down to £3.5k, Add £500 back in for the full SD cage (£1200 fitted) and SM Inlet (~£900 fitted) and I’ve come up with £3995.
There are a few scratches around here and there, bodywork and appearance never really bothered me, I bought the car for the fun and handling. Some will come out with a machine polish but some definitely won't.
NOTE: currently no solid engine mounts, no solid top mounts, no spot lamps.
I won’t entertain any offers over the internet. If you want to view then I’m flexible with times and based in Portsmouth. IF YOU WANT TO VIEW PLEASE Email me at jim-jackson (at) virginmedia (dot) com
