Hi guys

I'm considering selling my Clio Trophy mainly because I just don't have time to use it as I have 7 cars, work away from home and my partner recently gave birth. I bought the car for good money back at the start of the year and it's been owned by a few club members always being maintained to a very high standard, the car has a full folder with £10,000+ worth of receipts.

Since owning the car I set about making it mint spending over £2000 as it had the usual trophy/age related marks. I had all of the faded plastics and full front end painted to repair stone chips, new head lights, the car had cup racer style vents that were fixed to the fog cover area which I returned to standard for a more OEM look. Wheels refurbed, new centre caps due to diamonds flaking, new genuine rear bumper lamp. I've done a few other small bits to tidy and had the front brakes replaced and calipers ferubished due to corrosion.

I always wanted to own a Trophy and I'm a massive Renault Sport fan having owned Clio valvers, ph1 172, 2 x 182's, 2 x R26's, RS250 and 2 x Clio Williams (Still have R26, 250 and 2 Clio Williams) but I'm thinking of selling to spend the money on some home improvements I'm considering.

I'm not completely set on selling just yet but just considering my options really and given this car doesn't really get used it makes this and the Williams (which I wouldn't sell) an expensive ornament, I've literally covered a few hundred miles which was mainly the drive home from purchasing.

Basic spec:

71k miles
Renault Clio 182 Trophy 2005 55plate
ITG Panel filter
Acoustic Valve Removed
Scorpion Decat
Scorpion RS192 Exhaust
PrimaSport Rear Exhaust mounts
Vibratechnics Engine mounts
Poly bushed Dogbone mount
Pure Motorsport solid top mounts
Pure Motorsport front strut brace
Mark Fish Motorsport Springs (F&R)
Eibach Front Camber bolts
Eibach Rear Camber shims
Whiteline Rear ARB
Suspension setup done by Geoff Steel Racing
Brembo HC discs
Goodridge braided hoses
Motul 600 fluid
16″ Michelin PilotSport3 205/45/16
Sachs refurbed, belts changed and replacement clutch fitted in 2015

I've just had the car professionally detailed and paint corrected to remove minor swirls. Baring the new paint the rest of the bodywork has never seen any paint work, there was some very small door dings that I had out at the same time and the body is completely straight with no ripples (one thing I always look for and I viewed 6 trophys over the years before buying this car)

Picture of the car is from previous owner but will get some new ones when home from working away

I also wanted to ask what people think the car is worth? I'm not sure I could recoup the money I have spent on the car over the past 7 months but it really should be enjoyed by someone and it's a top example. As said I'm just considering this, whilst it would be great to tuck away and keep I have a mint clio williams and an impreza P1 in the garage.

That's mainly been maintance and services. That's not including the money I've spent on the car recently that was just when I bought it. One of the previous owners - Brisbane spent over 7k on the car during his ownership

£10k worth of receipts on a 71k Clio.
I assumed that included the original bill of sale ;)

In all seriousness I'm not sure what demand levels are like for a modified Trophy like this, albeit with things like Vibratechnics mounts and PMS STMs, both of which I'd have no hesitation on putting on mine.

Starting price of £7k??

Hi Dean,
I think it sounds like a nice one. As a user when I can I would probably like Tim do those mods.

Howvere you might want to elaborate what your plans are for the MOT which runs out on Dec. As your running a decat at the minute which should be trigger an instant fail on the gases. Not sure if removing the cat alone causes a fail or an advisory.

Also might wanna add the number of owners.. the 480 thread suggests it's had a few. Still not beating the 12 that my cars has though lol.

@Braddaz1 might be a nice choice for you?

Thanks for sharing this with me. It looks to be a nice car, but I'm going to be looking at a bog standard one as my aim will be to get one concours standard.

Still, I've got the little sideshow of selling a Cossie first.

Cheers for the replies. Car has the standard CAT fitted mainly for noise but decat would go with the car.

I need to check but I think the car has 7 previous keepers although each owner has spent a considerable amount on keeping the car exactly how it should be.

The cars certainly not heavily modified and looks OEM baring the popular exhaust. I may keep it yet but gauging interest and an idea of a price.

At a guess, I'd say it's somewhere around £7.5-8k in today's market. Someone else may disagree.

I'd be prepared to pay big bucks for the right one. But as said I don't have the cash in my hand yet so
I can't get involved in offers etc until my other car sells first.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Thanks mate. It's a tough decision but too many toys and not enough time to enjoy them with new baby and things we want to do with the house that need funding. I would certainly be very sad to see the car go

I'd say 8.5k would be where I'd put it up at and I think to right buyer it would sell for that.

As above.
I'd start at a price you're prepared to lower a bit. Thinking £9k to possibly lower a few hundred?

£8795 is where I would see it. Particularly if all the bodywork is sorted.

I think I might have spoke to you before about the Williams Si? did I pass you some details on the DTM Cars Trophy?

My Williams 3 is on 61k and almost time warp not a mark on the vehicle and my Williams 2 is on 91k, this has been mechanically sorted but requires a top respray, mainly due to a small patch of rust under the drivers wheel arch but the car desrves to be mint and only has 1 previous keeper!

I'm going to make a decision upon my return home to see if I can keep the car, my partner wants me to keep it and tuck it away but could do with releasing the funds for an orangery/garden room that we're planning.

The car bodywork is completely sorted, no dents, ripples, scratches and as said I've had all of the usual faded parts removed, colour matched and painted along with the full front end, I have detailed photos of all of the preparation work as I wanted the car stripping for a top quality job that the car deserved. Interior there isn't a mark on the seats etc. the drivers seat has been covered most of it's life.

Hello mate

I think you did from looking through the folder, in total I think the car has close to 15k in receipts, I've spent around £3k on the vehicle after recently having a full correction and 5 year ceramic coat put on her, in my ownership the money has been mainly spent in bringing her back to factory condition.

I've got some recent photos now from the detail that I must post. I'm still very much in two minds I would like to keep her and tuck it away but sometimes you just need the money for other things and it makes the car an expensive ornament when not being driven.
