Ed how can you tell if they are both the same side as I have have these ?

The orientation of the remote reservoir should be opposed to make a 'handed' damper so the reservoir sits towards the rear of the wheel arch on each side - if that makes sense.

The two you have there look to be both nearside. The part number on the stickers also confirms this.

A pair of dampers should look like this:
