I've always used Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40 in the engine and Millers TRX 75W-80 in the gearbox. I first changed the box oil at around 50k and it wasn't too bad, I emptied the oil again recently (72k) and it was like new. I'd definitely change it if it hasn't been done before. You need 5.1L for the engine and around 3.1L for the gearbox.

The plugs you want are part number 8200239321.

Hi,

I'm looking at getting my Cam belt changed. I spoke to Renault cardiff who offer to do this and the pullies for £399,
If I'm going to send my car in for this service, is there annything else i should consider? I asked about replacing the water pump but renault said it wasn't necessary and will cost an extra few hundred pounds (but didnt give me an exact figure).

Thanks.

To put it politely, that's absolute bollocks.

If it's an original water pump it's a no brainer to do, think the part is only around the £30 mark.

I agree. the lady on the phone didnt have any info to hand and seemed to have just plucked "a few hundred extra quid" out of no where. After i researched online they are about £30.

Renault Cardiff may be my choice for next service so very interested to see what you think and how much it all cost! Will you change the dephaser too?

Thanks for the link. it looks like a cambelt, dephaser and water pump is going to set me back around £700. i wasnt really excpecting it to be that pricey.

That's the downside of these cars... relatively cheap to run and maintain... until cambelt change time comes around!
