I'm not sure if there is a correct answer to this, as there are no doubt
so many different variables that would have an effect.

But how long, generally speaking, would the dampers stay in a very
good, useable condition, while sitting off a car, not being used?

I believe that regardless of where its stored "rubber" can crack and perish and as the seals and O-rings are rubber I would not hesitate in getting a simple service from BG just to have them replaced.

I had a pair of New shocks and as you can see the O-Ring is cracked

Unbelievable crazy price imo.

I can see it from both sides.

1, They are going to get rare
2, Parts are hard to come by
3, People won't want to sell them (If they have spare)

If you where buying new from Renault when they where available then you are paying £1800 each shock.

I remember some people on the cliosport forum thinking the ~£720 I paid for a spare new set was steep in 2020.

That's cloud cuckoo land asking prices though, would need to be utterly desperate. I sold my late dad's Jaguar XJ for £3000 last year to put value in perspective.

I agree totally, they are at least £1000 too much.

If they were £1300-1500 I’d say quite a lot of people on here would be considering them, despite what they could once be got for, simply because of how much BG are charging for a rebuild these days.

Mind you if people are willing to pay £45k for a car, what’s 2.5k for its defining feature….

👀 time will tell!

Blimey, what kind of fool is this, jeez they are not even mint. No one seems to have mentioned the big old dent.

That has just got be impossible to answer. Tomorrow? Three years down the line? To be honest I’m regretting having one of my spare sets serviced a few years ago, probably money wasted.

It appears the penny has started to drop.

After many relists it's bidding starting at £1250 and a buy it now of £1850.

Certainly starting to move in the right direction.. Myself, and I'd imagine a few others were a bit miffed to miss out on the, shall we say; more reasonably priced items that cropped up on the FB group the other day. ;)
