Not meaning to sidetrack the thread, but just be very grateful that you
don't live over here in Ireland.

You would definitely have something to complain about then.
We look at what you have to pay in the UK with a lot of envy....

How much does the Trophy cost in road tax/year over there?

Bang on Ed,its on the old pre 2008 registered CC (Engine Size) payment.

So €710/year.

Also a peculiarity of the whole system,is if you only tax a car for 3 or 6 months at a time for example, you will pay more if you do it that way for 12 months.

I used to barely believe it when relations visited from the UK and they were paying something like £200/300 (if even that) to tax something that was €1800 here.

Once a car hits 30 years old though, you only pay €56/year for road tax (small consolation...)

So if anyone is thinking of moving over with their F40 or McLaren F1....come on ahead, you'll save a fortune!!😉😎

Generally speaking, certainly before electric cars started coming out anyway,it was a lot more expensive to buy cars here as well.
If it didn't rain so much here,we would be like Cuba, with their closed off car eco system 🙈😂😂

Because electric cars are classed with zero emissions, their rate is €170/year or something.
So you can have a Taycan Turbo SS and pay a fraction, of say one of the latest AMG Mercedes cars (€2400/year)

So be thankful, if you are a petrol head, that you are living where you are.

You'd think for that much 'road' tax you'd have smooth roads, but I'm not sure you do?!

The roads are so bad in the UK, the government should be paying us...

I cant disagree with you there 😂

The thing is, the majority goes into the more general tax pot
to help pay for everything else.

On the plus side, the crap roads would just show you how good a car
like the Trophy still is ;)
