I have to admit that I find writing this post both difficult and disappointing.
However, it has come to my attention that there are a few people who sent their Sachs dampers to Rik for refurbishment many years ago, and who have not been able to get them back. I, too, find myself faced with the same predicament. Despite making contact with Rik, I am seemingly no closer to getting them returned.
Is anyone else here affected or find themselves in the same position? If so, please don't hesitate to get in touch (either through posting here or by sending me a private message).
Thanks to kind people on this forum, a couple of fellow Trophy owners have come forward and offered to pick up my dampers directly from Rik on my behalf, if I am able to get his details and arrange a suitable pick-up date/time. I believe Rik is still based in the Northampton area. If more people come forward then I may look to arrange a bulk pick-up, and then I will happily make the arrangements to get the Sachs sent back to their owners. That, of course, depends on being able to come to some arrangement with Rik.
This really is a shame as Rik was a fellow Trophy owner and strong supporter of the group. His refurb service was very popular and yielded great results. Whilst it no doubt took a considerable amount of his time to refurb the dampers he received, it is plain wrong that he still has sets in his possession that have not been returned (despite being asked). Especially given the fact that the expensive Sachs are a signature item on the Clio 182 Trophy and their presence (or lack thereof) can have an impact on sale/resale and desirability.
