Replace springs?

So I've taken the plunge and ordered some new rear dampers and was wondering whether I should replace the springs at the same time.
There's nothing wrong with them as far as a I can tell but have been on since new. I guess my question is, is their performance likely to degrade with age or if they're still intact then they'll be just fine?

Just out of interest, how many miles have they covered, Liam?

If your doing the rear shocks you may as well do the springs as well (standard ones aren't all that much) and have everything new. All springs degrades with age but how much depends on so many things like mileage, use, roads weather etc.

are you doing the upper bushes on the rear shocks?

Car has covered 84k and there's no record of them having been replaced.
I was thinking of doing the buses too but haven't got round to looking at them yet. Was going to get the front Sachs done as well but there's no evidence of disrepair on them so might just leave them alone for now and save myself £700ish

Anyone know if the bushes for the rear dampers are available separately. The guy at Renault I spoke to seemed to think that they used to come with the dampers and that you can't buy them separate. They didn't come with my replacement dampers :-(

Is he talking rubbish?
And if so, anyone have the part numbers?

Just out of interest as well, has anyone tried the powerflex ones and care to share their views?

if you buy 182 cup dampers then yes they come with all the covers etc.. amusingly if you buy £200 trophy rears... you get sweet FA..you can go down the powerflex route
