Hi all,

I owned a 172 Cup many years ago and loved it.

As i only do 1000 miles a year i'm up for a toy that won't depreciate that much and offer loads of fun and i think the Trophy fits that criteria.

Unfortunately i still have my E46 M3 Convertible to sell but these guys seem to be interested in a part ex.

Any thoughts on this car and what i should be looking at / for.

Many thanks

Let’s see some pics of the E46. The way prices are going on those I bet they’re interested!

Well, it's #91, there has been speculation on here as likely to have been in a crash.

It does sound like it has been well looked after and a bucket load of money spent on it subsequently to the crash but not sure it's worth taking the risk with the chequered history when i could just wait, sell mine privately, get more money and wait for one of you chaps to sell a peach.

It's also been suggested to me that it will probably need the dampers servicing as well.

£8.5k isn't an absolute bargain.

What do you chaps reckon?

Thanks

This Trophy has been for sale a long time!

You will regret trading that Beemer against this. Sell it privately as it looks a good'un and very sort after.

The trader also frequents this forum as I got a shirty message from him when I dismissed one of his trophies I went to look at, i posted about it on here - it was a mess but described as mint!

I would sit on your hands if I were you. I agree with Mossy on the one you put the link to. I certainly wouldn’t be throwing that M3 in as a PX you will lose on the deal all ends up

Okay thanks.

I've just had someone get in touch about my car and i've had some good dialogue and will net me more than the dealer offer.

One part of me does think that the Clio is low mileage and maybe better the devil you know. But i am in no rush and should probably just sit back for a bit and learn more about these cars.

Sensible decision, mate. Feel free to hang around and ask questions. These are special little cars but maybe not for everyone. Take a look through the forum and Owners' Register to read more about these cars, things to look out for, etc.

I need to drive one really, as i say i had a 172 Cup which i really enjoyed but then i've had a few other nice cars which have been quite quick so i suppose it's a case of whether the lack of speed will bother me.

A few of the gooduns..

- 360hp/812kg Supercharged and Chargecooled Honda K20a JDM powered Elise

- Mk1 Escort Mexico

- 276hp BMW E30

- Porsche 993 C2 Manual

- 172 Cup track car built by Mark Fish Motorsport (AST Suspension)

You will miss that engine when you get in the trophy. I love 182’s but wouldn’t chop an s54 engine for 1.

Plus loosing leather, 4 proper seats etc. I wouldn’t do it personally and would find a way of having both.

182 and trophies have 1 trick., committed back roads.

If it was a hardtop manual then i would keep it but unfortunately it isn't
