Lovely.
In fairness, quite a few have private plates that coincide with their car number.
I guess as time has gone by, there’s fewer Trophy plates available and most of them are now stupidly priced.

Even if TR08 PHY was available, I’d be unlikely to want to pay the price, which I’d guess would be £1,500 plus.
Indeed. Personally speaking I’m all for keeping the original plate on the car, but I respect those who want private plates.
You could not put TR06 / TR07 / TR08 or anything else like that on your car as it makes the car newer than what it is so the only plates that could have went on the car are 02 / 03 / 04 / 05 and they are now all sold.
You could have got T008 PHY as you can request “ANY” number plate you want from DVLA providing it is not on a car, not sorn, never been on a car with scrappage scheme or never been made by DVLA.
When you request your plate it can take anything from 3month to 2 years to go to a timed auction.
I got my plate for £130 as it means nothing to anyone else apart from trophy 376.
The person at the DVLA told me when I requested TR05 PHY and TR02 PHY that they would prob sell high as they could mean something to so many people.

Well with newer shape Trophy’s being made, you can use TR07PHY, TR08PHY etc on them.
There were a very small amount of 06 reg 182 Trophy’s, so you could put TR06PHY on one of them.

Granted you have the 220 EDC trophy or a megane Mk3 trophy for the newer age but that’s not what is being talked about and they could not go on a 182.

The TR55 PHY plate has also been sold as it was another one I tried to get.
Like I say you can have any plate you want if it’s not already in the pipe line and you are prepared to possibly pay the right money.

I think it’s fair to say we all knew you could only put a plate on a car that doesn’t show it to be newer than it is, otherwise we’d all be driving around in 67 plates.

By "put to auction" do you mean it will be auctioned with a lower reserve price than what it is currently advertised at?
If so I'd appreciate the details of who I'd need to speak with to get that done!
There are a few plates I've had my eye on for a while that seem too pricey for ages!

All plates requested go to a timed auction which normally lasts around 9 days.
The reserve price can be as low as £70+ fees or £130+ fees and if no one bids on it apart from you in the 9 day period you get it for the price you bidded on it.
The problem with going through DVLA is you get passed from pillar to post and need to fill out request forms and it can take months if not years.
I requested TR05 PHY over 2 years ago and it went to auction early this year and I lost out as I was not paying £2100+ fees for a plate.
The problem with having plates like TR05 PHY, TR02 PHY and other things that say something these mean things to a lot of people and company's so there is a lot of bidding on it.
Like I say I requested mine and got it for the £130 + fees as no other trophy owner is going to want that number to go on 408 or 149.
Grateful to whoever put #444 on mine before I bought it!
