mk1 ph2 electrical fault (charging)

i have a mk1 ph2 valver with an annoyingly intermittent electrical fault in the charging. when i go to start in a morning my battery light doesnt come on when ignition on 2nd turn so it aint charging, but it starts workin again when i go to it later on in day. i have cleaned all my earths up an even ran a cable straight from the alternator shell to the battery negative. can anyone please help?

it sounds like the alternators gone or on the way out.

might be the imobiliser, check for a leak around the sunroof, i had same problem, and the imobiliser kept cuttin the enine out as i was starting it, so had to get it disabled! not a cheap experience, 200 for the job itself, and 50 quid for my four digit security coe from renault!!!
