I’m assuming that’s the dephaser and water pump in all these costs? My dephaser has managed 9 years no problem and the first one managed 10 years no problem (AFAIK) so you can save on that at least in my experience.
Just as an aside... having spoken to Mick (Diamond Motors) and a few others, it seems as though the dephaser is getting more difficult to source. In fact, I'm pretty sure he said it is NLA... to the point where one or two specialists have considered offering an additional dephaser refurb. It's not necessarily difficult as it's a case of sourcing a suitable pulley, spring, etc. But, of course, the additional cost on top of everything else may be a little too much to swallow. It's getting more and more difficult to source parts and repair/maintenance is not getting any easier or cheaper!
On the subject of rust, #165 has spent its entire life outside and, as a result, is various shades of red/pink! As I am looking to get it resprayed next spring, I had a friend check it over for rust and for areas that might need to work. I'm happy to report that it appears rust free, which is a bit of a surprise to say the least. Sills look good, fuel filler area looks good, arches are good and free from bubbling. It just needs to survive this winter now!
