I’m due mine next year but SWR have never been anywhere close to that for me in 2015 or 2020.
Well. Prepare yourself. The parts cost alone for gen belts has more than doubled in the last couple of years. With the gen Aux belt being unavailable from Renault for a big chunk of 2023... which was a real ball ache.

Having spent an obscene amount on parts for the Impreza I know how much things have just sky rocketed in the last few years.
Need to have a chat with them about #187 as needs 2k + spent on a service and rebuild of suspension. Which will be 3k easily went finished.

From memory the spares in the boot were....

Cambelt Kit
AUX Belt Kit
Water Pump
Original Front Dampers - need refurbishment
New Rear Dampers
Trophy Spring Set from the last group buy

The above post is from a Renault expert and is @northy partner in crime - these guys know everything that you would ever need to know about special Renault’s - Richard sent me a ten minute video of the car and I’m sure he wouldn’t mine me sharing it with you if your seriously interested -

Jesus Christ.

I’m assuming that’s the dephaser and water pump in all these costs? My dephaser has managed 9 years no problem and the first one managed 10 years no problem (AFAIK) so you can save on that at least in my experience.

Yes, dephaser & water pump. I personally think it's prudent to do these items as routine with the belts, and Mick advises the same. But each to their own.

You'd be horrified I change tyres every 3 years too, irrespective of wear... even on the works vehicles. 😰

When are you due to remove your PS3’s Ed - can I have them 🤣🤣🤣

I’ll bet there like new with it now living a pampered life in storage and only doing a few hundred miles a year -
End of 2026 Nick. Happy to send them your way, remind me.. ;)

I can't guarantee they'll be like new though, remember... a few hundred "quality" miles per year. 😆

That’s fair enough but your tyre decisions would suggest unrivalled OCD coupled with a very healthy bank balance! 😉

I’d read the ‘prudent’ arguments years ago but I just don’t buy it if the car is looked after, got to draw a line somewhere. Maybe if you were talking about a 30 quid part it’d be more of a no brainier but a quick google suggest they’re a rip off now.

So just to confirm we are in agreement that I should look into 187 more and seems like a solid car.
My worry with eBay 7k one is rust. Can't buy another car with rust issues, my mental health and bank balance can't take it.

Surely, following recommendations from a well regarded specialist in these cars, as well as known good practice to replace the item with the belts, is an example of looking after the car? No?

If you've got the brass, in fairness #187 is probably the one to look at.

I shall make enquiries in the morning, Thanks for all the help and kinda makes sense was the rear window sticker that brought me here.

If you guys are in any doubt about the difficulty and costs involved with the full belt change then just take a look at the picture of my Trophy.
Im pretty handy on the spanner’s as some of you know but this is how much of a strip down is required when I changed my aux belt and tensioner last year.
Now add water pump, dephaser, cambelt, end caps and resetting the timing.
£1000 including oem parts is cheap in my book.

My plan of attack is to check to see if there is any movement on the price of #187.
As I would expect you want to do the full belt service and rebuild suspension so then I know it's all good. Which is easily well over 2k of work it needs

I would go for 187

It looks lovely ☺️

Don’t mind the after market gear knob and the carbon inserts either …. It hasn’t been spoiled, that’s what I am trying to say!

Clio folder too 😊
As nick says , clearly owned by decent people, 👍

Was there a Trophy specific gear knob, not that it bothers me. Spent 2 years chasing ones for the Impreza so not going through that again. The one fitted looks nice but more things to batter on price 👍
