4A1649A8-AF5D-4B92-819A-A96ACD5C8769.jpg Having identified that most of us on here are beyond the first flushes of youth I thought I would look to you for a bit of a steer on whether or not to re stripe the Cup. I've just had a new bonnet (easier than trying to sort the rust on the double skinning of the old one) and a front end paint.

So I'm left with the dilemma of either pulling the roof and tailgate stripes off or just replacing the bonnet stripes. I've had a mixture of comments on CS forum but generally towards off rather than on, which did surprise me actually.

Here's the car before and after

Stripe it looks much better. I am 34 so still consider myself youthful and occasionally mature

It looks stunning with or without the stripes.

The stripes appeal to me because I'm still a spring chicken. I probably wouldn't consider removing them until I reached 40, then I'd start questioning whether or not I'm too old to be driving a Clio with racing stripes.

Seriously though, I don't think it matters either way. What are your thoughts?

Are the remaining stripes original? You may find if you remove them that the exposed paint may have faded a little. I think you ought to refit they are original fit (ish) and have history.1964-1970-renault-8-gordini-1100-1300-3354_6901_969X727.jpg

I'd replace them. It's a no brainier really since you have them on the roof and tailgate.

Thanks gents, looks like it's stripes back on then. The CS forum lads went in favour of removing them, strange :grinning:

Ha ha, sounds about right. It's not all bad on there but there are quite a lot of people that don't know their history / heritage

I can't criticise though as an ex Subaru driver (x2). I was like the King of the Chavs back then and was constantly in conversation with headcases
