....the friendliest forum?

I've been thinking this afternoon, as I've been having a bit of back and forth with a member of another forum I frequent, how friendly this place is.

Not getting all misty eyed, as it's too early on a Friday evening for that and I've only just opened a bottle of wine to have with our evening meal, but I have to say, out of all the forums I'm a member of and enjoy dipping into. There's nowhere quite like here, the supportive nature of virtually everyone I've ever encountered here, the quality of the posting, the helpfulness, it's something that seems particular to Clio Trophy ownership.

Inevitably in the other places and there's always some bickering, bitching or at least one resident bullshitter. Here seems free of all that and just folk who are genuinely pleasant, polite and passionate.

Thanks to all, and hope you're all having a great Friday.

I’m on some dreadful groups where I question whether any members have a double-digit IQ, but this is a lovely place to be. Perhaps it’s the limited numbers, perhaps the desirability of the “Trophy experience” that brings pure and like-minded individuals. I know many friendships have started here and long may that continue.

It’s had its moments but the forum has pretty much always been this way and I’ve kinda been around a while. I used to be pretty active on a fair few groups but after a bad experience or two withdrew from all but a couple. I’m not so active here anymore but always checking in.
I think it may have been Harris (?) who described the site as one of the best car forums on the web.

The forum is a pleasure to be part of - I’ve been on the site for nearly 2yrs and I’ve been lucky to meet a few members already who share passion for moving objects - even the members who participate that don’t have a T make it special too.

Cheers Nick 🚗🚗🚗

I have to agree with all of the above. I've been on many forums globally and also helped run a couple. ClioTrophy has been by far filled with the purest of enthusiasts. The community here has definitely helped my 1 week shy of a 3 year Trophy ownership easier!

Cheers, Wesley!

I've not been very active of late for various reasons, but I always like to check-in and hope to start contributing again soon. Yup, probably one of the friendliest forums I've been a part of. :)

I think you must be right.

It's testament to the members and the friendliness factor that in 18 years I've pretty much been able to let this place run itself. That's of course with the great help of @BenG and all of you long dedicated members like @SharkyUK, @hoolio, @Claude to name just a few who have really kept it going and giving me a much needed kick from time to time.

I know there have been some differences of opinion on here over the years but it's all remained sensible and civil.

Maybe Trophy owners are just more mature (I didn't say old!) but it has been like that from the start.

I can’t believe it was that long ago since the forum opened. I remember growing an obsession for the Clio Trophy when it was first released and before I could reasonable afford to own one, aged 18 at the time. I finally bought one 3 years later after saving some money and I’ve still got the old girl today. I spent a while browsing this forum before owning one and even back then it was a friendly place and everyone was very welcoming, it’s definitely made the ownership much more enjoyable. I’ve made some good friends in life being part of this forum, long may it continue.

Fair play to the old hands for providing this resource and having the interest to keep it alive for us ‘late owners’😊👍 There isn’t a day or two that goes by that I don’t look at BenG’s underbody restoration thread from yrs ago without thinking I’m gonna do that to mine, this week… or next lol😆🤞 much appreciated!🚗

To all the Chaps named above thanks for all your efforts in keeping this forum alive and keeping us newbie's on our toes @Nik, @SharkyUK, @hoolio, @Claude, @BenG

Thank you for the kind words, gents. Honestly, no thanks are needed as far as I'm concerned. I've met some great people thanks to this place, especially through the annual Trophy Weekender that is arranged through this very forum. Without wanting to sound like an elitist snob, I do think Trophy owners are a classy breed! Good, honest car/driving enthusiasts and a great bunch to socialise and chat with (whether through the forum, or face-to-face). Talking of the Trophy Weekender, I'd like to thank Tim and Ian (@Claude and @Wiggy) for picking up the reins and for the organisation of the Weekender, too. It just "works" thanks to the good nature and shared interests of those involved and taking part, which is basically an extension of this forum!

My only regret is that I don't currently visit as much as I used to and my little TrophyTracker project has had to take a bit of a backseat. Sadly, some rather unfortunate events, over the past year or two have, and continue to, take up my time and energy! I do keep checking in though and - at the time of writing - #165 is still in my possession. Well, at Diamond Motors with Mick... which is the same thing really.:ROFLMAO:
