I just went once again with Greenlight. Not really sure what the fuss is about. Your insuring for market value. So isn't your perceived agreed value meant to be market value anyway. Anything more and your trying to play the system. Which is exactly why they have bailed on that aspect.

If I crash 147 tomorrow. Go online and there are 10 adverts for 115k cars at £8k. Then that's what I will be arguing for as market value to replace my car.

Yes but they don't seem to realise that the Trophy is a different value to a 182, and a lot of ins co,s only pay out on the 182 values...
Last time I looked there were only 4-5 cars for sale... And unfortunately not at £8K / 115K milers.

So do you have a specific agreed value policy, or market value?

If the latter and the worst happens then it appears it gets even worse as you try to argue the value of your car. There have been at least two threads in the past ~18 months where Trophy owners have had massive issues getting anything more than a few thousand pounds.

Market value and the car is stated as a trophy not a 182.

It's just about the the size of the argument your willing to have.

And of course I was jesting about £8k car on 12k.

I see what you're saying but others have really struggled having that very same argument. I'm not aware it's worked out well for anyone, and I think Dan even went to the ombudsman.

Fortunately I have an agreed value policy but to each his own.

Let's just all agree not to crash then it becomes academic ;)

Agree Tim,
Appreciate some have immaculate examples worth top money,
Some have honest examples,
Some have cheap as chips examples ( where both of mine have started)
Some Are weekend toys so can have a long proud of argument if needed. Other might need quick payments to replace a daily.

So your appetite for resolution is always going to be different.

Try Specialist Insurance on 01277 206911. I have another car insured with them, would be my first port of call when the Trophy is due in March. Maybe we need to mention that there could be a few policy purchases out there?

Just taken a new policy with Specialist Insurance for £219 (inc discount for my other vehicle with them). Agreed valuation of £6000, 5000 mile cap, no business use. Flux wanted £414!! These insurance companies are weird.......

I am going to resurrect another thread as I just tried to swap my insurance for the Fiesta ST to the Trophy but AXA will not insure a Trophy so got to shop around now. I have a multi vehicle classic policy with FJ so will ring Monday & get a quote with them first I think. Let you know how I get on.

My renewal with Greenlight would only agree the value at £6.5k so I've gone to Keith Michaels.

More expensive premium but agreed value more aligned to my requirements.

What's the latest on Greenlight with the Trophy?

Renewal is due in a a few weeks and I've wondered about an agreed value policy this time.

I would ask. Depends on what you think yours is worth. There’s big numbers floating about on cars which just are not selling. So not surprised when they started to reject people’s requested for £xxxx.

Yeah it seems there are a few cars with around 60k miles with asking prices varying from 7k-9k for sale at the minute.

If you are an existing customer you will get the same value you got last year. Beyond that it’s just market value.......which is anyone’s guess. The Trophy these days seems to attract little of a premium over a decent 182. A 60k mile car is realistically worth about £6k now

These days? You make it sound like they're at the bottom of their depreciation! As a percentage I'd say they're worth significantly more than a regular 182, all else being equal.

Mine was £5k on over 70k miles 4 years ago. It's now on over 100k miles and I'd suspect I'd get £5k again for it now. £6k for a 60k miler sounds like needing a quick sale.

I got an agreed valuation from Adrian Flux back in May. #247 with over 100k miles on the clock was valued at £6k. That was the value I suggested and they seemed to concur without any quibbles.

How much was it if you don't mind?

My renewal with Aviva is only £280 but I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for an agreed value policy.
