Big shout out to Tony @ VintagsUK for custom making me a pair of new decals. These are absolutely spot on and the silver decal is still an anti tamper VOID when removed.

Some might say expensive for what may be considered as just stickers but well worth replacing the damaged items and getting these details right.

Anything above 220-230 bhp territory is gearbox ending territory according to most turbo people.
It’s mainly the torque ramp that does it. Turbocharging obviously compounds this whereas supercharging is far bore box friendly. I want to stay NA though I think.

WZD has worn its BTM exhaust system for 8 years, and after removing it this morning, it’s practically as mint now as the day it was fitted.
The BTM has only been removed as I fancy a change and have been intrigued by the hype that’s always surrounded the Orbisoud system. I have to say I’m not a great fan of the inwardly rolled Orbisoud outlets but they may grow on me.
The system fitted up well in no time at all.

I personally love that classic look. ?

Had these refurbished and not overly happy with the job which got me thinking do i sell and get something new?
Or buy a new set of Turinis?

New Turinis! :)

Can only buy non Renault specific Turinis though which means i lose 2.2mm offset per side. That doesnt bother me but ive been told the Renault centre caps dont fit?

Thanks to everyones comments on this and i have taken onboard the feedback which largely mirrors my own. I have taken the speedlines to a different (unfortunately far more expensive) refurb shop here in Essex to be completely stripped and refinished.
Annnoying to have to pay out twice, but this is what happens when you pay for a cheap job, all be it still £60 quid a wheel.

Im going to stay with the silver though as i do think this clean look looks fantastic and super fresh. :)

So nothing much happening on WZD lately, just waiting on a few odds and ends.

Sold the Orbisoud which has now gone to a new home and temporarily put my BTM system back on. It’s remarkable how good condition it’s in and the quality of it has really shown. Since I knew it’s fitment was temporary, I didn’t even seal the flanges, I just bolted them up. Yet there’s not a hint of a leak which is great.
Weighed them for fun too. ?

Also fitted a new genuine Renault bonnet latch, just because. ?

Still waiting on my Turinis to come back from being refinished for the second time so they should be nice.
I think I’ve decided when they come back that I’ll be selling the 2118s.
They were brand new on the car only a few months ago, but I can’t get my head around the weight of them. You can feel it on the steering quite a bit and I should have known better but to choose style over performance.

Gorgeous wheels though, they “wheel” be missed, as they look sensational. :)

Just hard to know what to replace them with that have any chance of suiting the mk2 Clio as much as they did.

So, finally after a few weeks wait, my new exhaust system arrived. Yes I weighed up my options and seriously considered going back to Matt at Simpson’s. However when I started to really dive into it, I was looking at the thick end of £1300

After numerous conversations and videos sent by some good mates, namely @Ash J and @Gambit of their PMS systems. I decided to give Nick @Pms a call and see if he could indeed supply me with one of his systems, but I wanted some custom straight cut 3” tips in a brushed finish. The PMS offered a lightweight design, not too loud, full 2.5” and without argument the best and most adjustable mounting system. All of this at less than half the cost of a Simpson setup.

I much prefer brushed systems over the polished stuff, my impreza was the same, as is my Cayman.

Nick kept me updated along the way and sure enough the new system arrived today. I’m exceptionally fussy when it comes to this sort of stuff and was very pleased with the quality. Lighter than the Orbisoud and BTM. The material quality doesn’t feel quite as good as the other 2, probably 90% but the construction and welds are very good indeed. The more you look at the PMS system the more you can see someone has actually sat down and genuinely thought about it. The hangers are adjustable in all directions except vertically.
To address the vertical adjustment I purchased some of the beautifully made Pro-Am stainless mounts. These happen to be 10mm shallower than my mounts so raise the exhaust 10mm, thus giving a snugger fit to the bumper.

I’ve gone for the full PMS decat but have also purchased their cat derestriction piece which I will have welded to my OEM cat for ease of swapping come MOT time.

I decided to fit up the system with the tips over protruding, let it heat cycle and then knock them back to where i wanted after. Easier to tap them in that pull them out I thought.

So after all that, photos photos photos.
The trusty BTM was off once more.

Once home I adjusted the tips back to the bumper line. I just love how purposeful it looks now. ?

Wow, the mounting system is great! It really looks free to move in the direction you want. Have you noticed any difference in vibration through the car?

Sounds epic too!
