This thread is reading like a "how to guide" for a top class restoration. Great work.
Thanks, appreciate anyone that reads my ramblings of Clio ownership haha.

Great how to thread this!

I’ve bought some new mounts for the Orbisoud but wondered why the previous ones might of had cable ties on them?

They look fantastic. Im only going to paint mine for now till I decide if I’m to keep the exhaust or not.
Once I know it’s deffo staying, I’ll do things like that and buy new BMW runners etc.
Does yours have a centre silencer too or is it unsilenced?

It has an extra chamber in front of the one on yours.

Ah that’s the sports cat. Do you have any videos of it?
I’m debating if I go decat or sports cat on mine. Worry if too loud with decat and too quiet with a cat.
Also annoying the whole system is a smaller diameter than my BTM anyway. ??‍♂️

Not quite ready to go on the car yet. Hopefully next week. So no video unfortunately. Yes hard to know which to go for.

So will you have a cat put back in?

If you are thinking of parting with it, do let me know.

It has a decat welded in at the moment but I’m thinking of having it sleeved and running my OEM cat which already had the derestriction mod done.
If I do that I may well have it sleeved so I can just chop and change come MOT time or if it takes my fancy.

At the moment I’m very much 50:50 on keeping it till I fit it and hear it.

Yes understand that would make it easier to change over. So I take it the decat was done by the previous owner?

Well if you decide it’s not for you, do let me know.

So i threw some time at the Orbisoud this I afternoon. I never took and decent before photos as frankly I was quite embarrassed at the state of it.

Lots and lots of ingrained surface rust. Lovely exhaust but very unloved in its life.

Spent a good few hours with Optiglanz, Billberry wheel cleaner, Iron X and 180/400 and 1500/2000 wet/dry.

Centre silencer and mid pipe wet sanded and all joints cleaned with a brass brush on a drill.

I didn’t bother with the decat pipe so much as I’m pretty sure this will be cut off and my derestricted cat sleeved in place.

First images are as recieved, then post prep and the last lot are after ive given it a polish up.
It’s far from perfect but I’m at the limit of my tools/skills/time prepared to put into it as I’m not 100% I’ll keep it yet.

I think that this is my favourite thread on the internet....

Its the thread that just keeps giving!

Every update makes me so envious of your abilities!!

Haha. Wow that’s some statement as there are a lot of amazing threads, far better than mine. Just imagine how non Trophy this would be by now, so glad I didn’t buy a Trophy in the end.

So you may remember me fitting a new AC condenser over lockdown and since then with everything being shut, I was unable to get the system recharged.

A good friend of mine (John) is a refrigerants engineer and he recommended I also fitted a fresh drier unit and changed the oil in the system.
So I ordered a drier and arranged to meet up with him on a hot day when I could fit the drier when the ambient air temp was hot and dry and recharge the system on the same day. (Today)

So in goes a new Nissen drier, you may noticed this is ever so slightly undersized for the clamp bracket so I added 2 laps of fabric tape to it to allow the clamp to bolt up properly. Which it does. :)

We also fully vacuumed the system and replaced the lubricating oil with fresh. This is PAG46 for anyone interested.
Thankfully in this hot weather, WZD is now recording a huge 24 degree c delta below ambient and the pump is chucking out a healthy 16.5bar pressure. So a huge thanks to John for his help with this today.

In addition to having lovely fresh super cold AC, I finished up the Orbisoud brackets.
These have been blasted, sanded back, fresh studs welded in, zinc coated and finished in Ford Panther black with clear lacquer. OTT on paint but I had it spare.

Theyre far from mint but clean and tidy and most importantly protected for future use.

Almost ready to try the Orbisoud on the car. :)

Took WZD to see Andy @engine_dynamics today for nothing other than getting the car on the rolls for some baseline dyno runs.

There really is no point attempting to get more from the little F4R until we know how healthy it is at the moment.

Still the original motor on 125k miles now, and running on the the stock map with OEM cat in place. All HPAS and AC obviously still in place too.
Andy mentioned I would lose a bit due to running it on fat sticky R888s too, which I already knew.
Ambient temp today was 22 degrees C.

It appears WZD is still in a fine bill of health.

Standard 182FF
ITG Maxogen
BTM catback exhaust

178bhp / 157lbsft

Big thanks to Andy for his time today. ?

So, now we have a baseline... what way to go, how far do you push a 125k motor in NA format?
