First couple of weeks with #407.

Having recently purchased #407 via the Forum, I have been throughly enjoying the car, using it as intended for some great drives on some great roads. The car is running fantastically, feeling very well indeed for it's age and mileage, quite the revelation in fact!

A spectacular evening run in the Forest of Bowland.

A trip to Harewood Hillclimb on Sunday with the in-laws in tow.

And because I have a thing for originality & clean engine bays, a start has been made on some light titivation under the bonnet, some before and during pics. The job's nowhere near finished yet as I hope to do some further fettling & repainting of various parts.

If your planning on cleaning g then I would suggest getting hold of a replacement rubber for the slam pan to help keep crud out.

The the upper inlet and fuel guard rail are easy to remove to clean up out the car.

Cheers, it’s such a fabulous drivers car it would be a shame not to enjoy it properly.

Coincidentally, I have ordered a new slam panel rubber from RPD today, so will be refitted asap.

Really looking forward to enjoying the car!

I tend to use the Autoglym Motorcycle Cleaner as a light initial degreasant with a bit of agitation with a toothbrush on the tricky bits. Followed by the Autoglym Rubber & Vinyl Care to finish as I feel it gives a natural sheen to hoses & plastics rather than one which is too glossy.

My next plan is the restoration of the metal parts, brackets, inlet manifolds, repaint the block etc. Currently deliberating over cam cover finish, either keep to the original aluminium or go for a crackle black... Will probably stick with the original tbh.

I had mine vapour blasted to get back to the original finish. I have then coated it with ACF-50 which helps stop it from oxidising which 8 months on I can confirm it does.

That looks fantastic Dave, loving the factory fresh original look there.

Into the third week, couldn't resist a little drive out in #407 to catch the sunset...
The chassis composure on some of my favourite roads is simply outstanding and certainly grin inducing.

So much character!
