Engine Diagnostic help

I wonder if anybody can help me? The engine in my Trophy sounds rough on tickover and when cold occasionally the engine warning light flickers or appears on the dash for a few moments. I've had the engine checked on a diagnostic - specifically the injectors - and it appears to be running fine. The engine pulls well and does not appear to be down on power. The car is run by a racing team who changes the cam belt as a matter or course during the build. They are not experienced in the 182 unit and im concerned that the timing has been set incorrectly

Is this a common problem and if so, what is generally the cause?

Thanks in advance

As TonkaTruck says, it's quite likely the timing is out. If someone inexperienced [with F4R engines] attempts to set the timing (and doesn't use the correct Renault locking tools) then there's a very high likelihood that the timing is off. That said, I've always found that the F4Rs do tend to run a little lumpy and rough on cold tickover but it might be worth getting it checked over by a Renault specialist.
