.........decided to give the car its first engine clean today - not done it before but very pleased with the outcome!

My faith in the car has been somewhat revived this weekend and can only get better once I get dampers done.

Just sprayed on Autoglym Engine cleaner, left for about 10 mins and then hosed off. Need to make sure you cover battery, air filter and coilpack really as electric and water don't mix.

Afterwards sprayed on Autoglym vinyl & rubber cleaner which gives it a nice shiny gleam!

i would like to be brave enough to attempt this but I would be worried it would damage something.

Am I right in thinking you clean it with the engine running too? Never known if thats correct or not.

Easy - spray on cleaner / degreaser and leave for a few minutes (after long run so engine is warm) - just spray off making sure you cover electrics / air intakes. I cover the coilpack, leads, battery and IK to be on the safe side. Ideally pressure wash with some steam but I wouldn't fancy doing that myself.

Re IK - it is Samco 70mm bend with Pipercross Viper Filter (both came with the car).
